I just purchased a new BX1860 with turf tires because I didn't want the ag tires to shred my lawn but fear that the turf tires won't have enough traction when I am working on my lot to get it ready to plant grass or in the winter for plowing snow. I saw a BX1860 on youtube with the R4 industrial tires on it off of a BX2360 and was wondering if they bolt right up and/or if they would be too much extra wear on the tractor? Thanks in advance for the help! I'm sure there have been other posts about this, but I didn't see any.

Dont know specifically on those, but I have BX 1800 AGs on my BX1500. The rim pattern bolts right up. I had to space the fronts out about 1/2" tho. AG tires are not a problem on these little tractors and offer best traction available without chains. Turfs are reportedly quite good in snow. Where AGs would shine over both others is deep snow and all other general circumstances. R4 is best if carrying a loader bucket.

Thanks! I just got it and really don't have any time on it to actually say that I need more traction, but the R4 tires just seem like a good general tire with the wider bars to keep from digging into lawns until they spin and then they have the deep lugs to really bite down. I will use the turfs and see if I have any issues before I drop the money on R4's and wheels. I will know by the time I have my back lot finished and ready for grass seed. I just wish it would stop raining so I can get some seat time!

It's not about bolting up.

The gearing is set to accommodate the difference in circumference between the front and rear tires. It is designed to spin the front tires slightly faster.

If the circumference difference between tires on the two models is the same, you're all set. If not, your drivetrain may suffer/fail.

You need to do some math. There was a thread on this a couple of years ago.

Yes, but not so big an issue. ... They said that same thing when I ordered the larger wheels/tires. Altho with them there is more front lead, the tractor handles and turns better with it. In 10 yrs it hasnt been a problem. A small change to more lead is good. A small change to less lead is not good -- especially if it causes the front drive to lag. Poor handling and steering because the front wheels are being pushed instead of pulling.

Thanks for the input guys! I will just use it with the turf tires for a while and see if it is something I feel necessary to do anyway and continue to research and look into the possibility before I get to that point.

The larger tires may prevent you from using a MMM on the 1860. Hopefully someone in the know can answer this for sure.

In over 10 years with a BX tractor with turfs I've had no traction issues including deep snow. I bought chains when I first bought the tractor but have never put them on. I don't even know where they are now. Others may feel differently than me but my point is that you are smart to try it for a while before spending the money for a set of non-standard tires for your tractor. The money saved could be used for a tooth bar or some other such goodie.

I move snow just fine with turfs on level ground, and Rimguard in my rear tires. But when the ground freezes and my paved driveway ices up(which is on a hill), I need to install tire chains. I have 2 link ladder chains for mine.
