Trading down from a B2601 to a BX2380. Dealer called said it was ready for test and paperwork. Got on it and drove it around the lot. When I let off of the hydro pedal it just kept rolling, freewheeling, forward noticeable, in reverse it would be dangerous. Just kept rolling 20 feet on a flat surface until its momentum stopped. I showed the salesman He said they roll some 4-6 feet. Ive had KUBOTA hydrostatics since the mid 80’s. A B8200 for over 30 years and the B2601 for 3. They come to a controlled short stop always. It startled me in reverse, my wife and I mows grass and and this would tumble into a ditch easily if this happens. Seems there is possibly a Hydrostatic unit issue. I’ll walk away probably, I told the salesman its dangerous with it working like this and call me after service looks at it. I left with all my paperwork.

They bought it assembled from another dealer, it had 3.2 hours on it. I’m wondering if this problem was known and just passed along, defective, to my dealer.

That sounds funky especially given your experience with Kubota hydros. Your hypothesis seems possible as well.....while 3.2hrs "could" have been enough for someone to realize they needed to upsize etc. it seems odd.

As I understand it you have nothing into the tractor. It appears defective. the solution is simple - decline to purchase. Have the dealer get another tractor with less hours or find another dealer who will.

I bought a used, but only 28 hour BX2380. It does the same thing. I did not have this experience when I owned a B3030 several years ago. I'd be interested to know why the tractor wants to coast when my foot is taken off the go pedal. But I don't think it's anywhere near 20 feet. I use the brakes when needed.

Some BX tractors had that concern 4-5 years ago. Appears the dealer needs to start with the pedal adjustment procedure. that's probably the fix. Also, I had a BX25D at the time that worked perfectly, I took it in for its 50 hour service and it came back rolling after lifting my foot off the pedal, it turned out that the dealer pressure washed the tractor and blew some crap into the pedal assembly. I crawled under the tractor and cleaned it, back to normal.

Salesman called, said charge pump port needed adjusting, he’s just parroting what service said. The forward roll after stop was more than I am use to, 8-10 feet, back up roll was unnerving, rolled like a skate board loosing momentum until it stops. Would have easily gone off my drive and into a ditch. I had a B8200 hydro for 30 + years and 2000+ hrs that stopped dependably when releasing pedal within 6 feet or less. This tractor rolled 20 plus feet like nothing connected.

What does the stated repair mean, obviously something with the hydrostatic assembly.

Many times it’s an adjustment to the spring assembly in the pedal I recall. Google it, lots of info. Mine had some debris blown into it with a pressure washer, and after cleaning it was again perfect. Let them fix it, likely a simple adjustment and fix.

I'll take a look at that. I wouldn't doubt that's the issue after having to adjust the throttle lever after I bought it. The throttle wouldn't maintain position and the RPM's would keep dropping. I found the adjustment spot and tightened it up nicely.
According to the video linked here, tractor should stop within 10 feet if moving in high range at full throttle and then removing your foot from the pedal. I guess I'll have to watch this guy's other video on removing the mower deck to attempt this adjustment. Yay! Kubota BX Sticking Hydro Pedal Fix - YouTube

My bx2200 will jerk your neck off when you release the petal while in reverse. I mean, it will jerk your neck off. I wish it would give a little, like an inch. In forward it has a tendency to roll especially at medium speeds. I have tightened the return spring once and that reduced the 'walk' by half. I think I just need to adjust it some more. What you are experiencing is not normal.

Don't recall if the video covered this but mine has a guard below the hydro fan. I didn't completely remove it. There are 2 bolt in each side. I removed the bottom bolts, loosened the tops and just swiveled the guard downward to access the adjuster. Still not ideal to get at but better than nothing.
