It took 2 hours with the backhoe and a chainsaw to cut 3 8" tree roots but the Kubota won out. The stump had to be pretty heavy because I could barely lift it (even without the FEL bucket on)

About now your wife will tell you those were the wrong two trees.

Nice. I have not tried removing anything that big yet with my BH, but I'm itching to try. Might just be a mature tree missing from the yard when my wife comes home one of these days. "See honey, it was putting too much shade on your flower garden - you'll thank me later." :D

I don't even have a kubota... but I know that strategy is dangerous, at best!

I got one about that size to pull out. But my BX2230 doesn't have a bh. Gonna be an interesting tug of war.

Even after the two hours of digging, the smaller roots still held it tight right up until the point where it let go. Without a BH, I don't think a wrecker could have pulled this out

Just think, there are still people out there that believe that BX's are just oversize lawn tractors. Your pictures may change a few minds. Great job!

Too funny, but hey, they have never operated one nor seen them.
My BX25 is a full blown tractor, 1/2 the size of what one would have
called a backhoe 20 years ago, goes forever on a, what is it, 4.5 gallons
of diesel? Squeezes thru small openings, does not sink into Mrs Jones
lawn, easy to work on...great tool they are. I dug a hole w/ it big enough
to BURY the entire hoe w/ 2' of cover w/ ROPS down...

I was wondering the same thing about the side engine covers?

Funny you should ask .... I was lifting up a good sized log chunk and I got distracted and gravity took over (smashing the hood). I found a replacement hood on Craigslist for $40 (much better than the several hundred they wanted for a new one). Replacing the hood made sense to me, but the side panels (even though they were fine) were a PITA to take on and off. Since I could not figure out a good reason to have them on, off they stayed. As for the roll bar ... I got tired of forgetting when it was up (to take it down) and trying to drive it into my 7' garage door. Leaving it down it kept getting in the way. On my project list is to make a full cage like the B26 but 2" shorter so it will fit through the garage

Those are the pictures they need in the BX brochure instead of the well dressed guy in a button down polo shirt with a 30 lb potted plant in the bucket on a perfectly manicured lawn on a shiny tractor.
