as said earlier this is on dirt and I only use 4x4 when needed. Even when using a truck in 4x4 and making a sharp turn I never herd chattering! I heard the wheels breaking loose and feel every this hard to turn, but still smooth. The service guy said it was the like a posi unit switch the power from wheel to wheel.

Than you most likely have a problem because the front end is an open carrier and would act like I described. With the loose dirt you should not notice this that much. If it was a posi front you would have difficulty steering the tractor.

Even with an open carrier you will get the tires scrubbing on a 4x4 because your front wheels are trying to spin at a different speed than the rear. Since the front and rear axles are tied together at the transfercase you will get binding. If you had a locked front end or POSI (which is really a limited slip) You would have difficulty turning the vehicle at all it would tend to want to go straight. Now as for the tractor I would think the hydrostatic tranny would absorb the difference in wheel speed but I don't know for sure.

I have about 230 hours on my BX23.
A couple of weeks ago while doing some extensive fel/grapple work I noticed some clunking when I backed up and turned at the same time. It's not audible but more of a feel through the floorboards almost not noticeable. I kinda thought it was a stick stuck up under and rubbing on a tire. I couldn't find anything rubbing but when I grabbed the front driveshaft it had some play. I figured is was the universal. I got time to check it out more and it's not the universal it is play in the slpines that the universal attaches to. I think this is where my clunking is comning from.
Here is a pic.

Thats what i am feeling too. Its not much but enough to put a thought in my head that it shouldnt be there. I had not checked where, nor did i feel that i should since i only have 14 hours on it. The play where you have play is no good IMO. My guess is that it would only get worst over time. I wouldnt thing that there would be any slopp at that point. I could have it at the same place and who knows, maybe its how it was designed....

The way it is designed there is no way to eliminate play. It just slides on and a pin goes through it and is cotter pinned. No way to tighten it. I am just going to let it go until it becomes a problem. Who knows maybe it never will.
The side in the picture is the drive shaft side, you can't see the axle side but it has play also. Changing a drive shaft is no problem but getting the slpine shaft out of the axle seems like a major undertaking. I could saw a split in the joint where the spline shaft goes into it and put some sort of a "U" clamp arond it but that seems like overkill and it would weaken the joint, even though the jiont is probably the cheapest part of that sysem, about 40 bucks

For the record, I checked my BX24 with 12 hrs last night and it has fluid in the front axle to about half the dipstick so maybe only slightly low.

Cudos to Landford Equipment -Marble Falls TX. Doing a good job with delivery prep!

This was discussed a while back and the the general idea was that the dealer prep WAS done but that the fluid takes a long time to get down to the lower part of the housing down by the hub because there is not much room for it to drain past the gears/bearings and for air to get out.

No. But the joints themselves are tight.

Just a thought...all the talk about Posi made me think of this. Your rear differential lock isn't locked in is it? It should pop back up after you take your foot off but it doesnt't hurt to check that it is working properly.
