BX24 & Front Weights - what a PITA

Just pulled off the loader and hoe. Put on the tiller and front weights. Aaaarrrggghhh, what a PITA.

Not the loader, hoe, and tiller. Those take a couple of minutes each. The front weights... phooey!

The (bloody expensive) set: bracket, hold-down clamps, and suitcase weights, were all Kubota-branded and ordered as a set. They weren't compatible until the bracket was seriously modified. The dealer had to do that - after I drove the 100 miles back and showed them that the parts didn't match. Then there's having to pull the brush guard. And of course the bracket can't be left on when the loader is attached... etc, etc, etc...

Nah. The loader by itself is a perfectly adequate counterbalance to the tiller. The problem is tight access to the areas I'm tilling. With the loader on it's very difficult. With the bracket and weights it's just difficult.

I'll probably go back to leaving the loader on. If I pull a gutter off the barn or break a branch off a tree, it's less hassle than putting on the bleeping weights.

What size tiller do you run? We run a 48" Bush Hog brand tiller on the back of our BX2350. Even without a front loader or weights, the front end stays on the ground.

IIRC it's a 48" Land Pride. Front gets pretty light without weights. I find I need 4wd at times and it's not very effective when the front is so light. i can imagine situations where I could do without the ballast up front - just not my situation...
