Any idea what the plastic hood costs for a 2007 BX24 and who has one. I got up close and personal with a log. The crappy hood didn't take the hit well. Next time I'll avoid sling loading anything as I know this is gonna cost me some bucks.
Thanks

According to Messick's website the part # is K2581-54110 which is superceded to K2581-54113 and the cost is $201.95 and they have 0 in stock. Golden Eagle Direct has it on their website for $200.95.

Just a thought -

Does the BX25 hood fit the BX24?
Just thought I would throw that out there as a option if you did not want a plastic hood again.

If you find out, let me know.

Good luck,
Douce

I think we're still waiting for our first volunteer from this site to try it. I think we should talk Messicks into it, because if it does fit, he'd probably get loads of orders from people who don't like the junky plastic. :D

And if you drop something on metal hood the outcome is a crinkled metal hood. I've dropped wood on my plastic one and it bounced right back, nary a scratch. Personally one vs the other is a wash.

I have thought that very same thing. One dents, one might crack. 6 of one, half dozen of another...

I need/like/want something ferrous for magnetic things. Also, something I can drill and screw sheet metal screws into without the risk of spider web cracks. But, to each his own, for sure.

Au contraire. I dropped a monster log on my (metal) BX hood at 10 hours. I was lifting it into a dumpster and didn't roll the bucket forward. For a moment, I was the little guy on the left FEL warning label. Anyway, BIG crease all the way across, pretty much even with the side rails. It's a guess, but I doubt the plastic hood would survive that. Maybe if it was ABS, but it can't be - too much heat.

30 minutes with an assortment of hammers, mallets and round objects I had the metal hood back to almost new. It's hard to spot.

Not to mention what I have done to my rear fenders. I wish the blinker housings were metal too.

I can without a doubt destroy my plastic hood. With occasoinal light limbs and such it has been resilant. I'd like to study the metal hood to see what it imparts as to being better or worse.

Plastics just what they said I had to take at the time. Not much choice in the matter. I couldn't wait for what the future might bring. Way companies keep trying to pair costs no telling what else they might try to get too clever with redesigning.

One other thing, how will the plastic age over time. It may get brittle.

I've learned my lesson the hard way--twice, ouch!. (slow learner). Until I can get over the $200 dollar price tag, I went to Walmart automotive and picked up a bondo kit; I applied it to engine side of the hood, and with what epoxy I had left over, I applied just the epoxy to the top side. Dries clear, doesn't look too bad!

I did the same thing- my side bonnet was cracked from brush hitting it.
