2008 BX24
I am a long time reader and first time poster. I just purchased a BX24 that was originally purchased April of 2008. It has 210 hours and came with the following impliments that were also purchased at the same time. The owner passed away and it was sold as part of the estate:
LR1560 (60" Land Pride Landscape Rake)
RBT1560 (60" Land Pride Rear Blade)
RTR0550 (50" Reverse Rotation Tiller - Land Pride)
BB0548 (48" Box Scraper - Land Pride)
RCR1542 ( 42" Rotary Cutter Land Pride - Brush Hog)
PD10 ( 9" Post Hole Digger Land Pride )
RCK60B23BX (60" MMM Kubota)
BT5260 (Wallenstein Thumb)
BT601 (Backhoe)
BT2931 (12" Bucket for Backhoe)

My question is that I need to remove the driveline that attaches the MMM. Kubota said it would be 2 weeks before getting the owners manual. Also it appears that there is some torn rubber and I was wondering what this is and if it could be covered under warranty.

That is just a sliding collar lock that should release by pulling it towards the front. The sliding shaft looks dry I can only imagine the other shaft is to.

IT shows that he used the machine to bush hog, the transmission fan blades look to be broken off.

art,
You beat me to it. The HST fan blades are broken and the joint covers appear to be missing on the propeller shaft.

No HST fan blades could be trouble. It took me about 8 hours to fix my propeller shaft. (with beer breaks) :D

Be careful of the small, easily lost, ring dampers. There are 4 on each end and the cost is over 9.00 each. Check kubotabooks.com for the parts manual.

YUP! the hst plastic fan blades is torn off, the rubber boot is the least of your problems. From what I hear, its a major job to remove alot of parts and move engine forward just to get to the HST fan. At the same time, you will then be able to address the torn boot. Your MMM shaft should not be left on there like that, its too easy to accidentcally turn on the PTO if it int he both pto or botttom mode. You should be able to crawl under there and grasp the collar with both bandsat 3 and 9 o clock and just pull straight out to release the shaft. Then you can full the shaft off the PTO. IF the locking collar doesnt move, spray it with wd40 liberally. You should be able to grasp the collar and gently rock the collar from 3,9 oclock position to nudge the collar on the way out. The collar is not the porblem if it stuck, it's the ball bearings you need to get loose that holds the shaft and collar in place, hence the reasson for wd40. Once you get it off, wipe the wd40 off and apply liberal amount of grease and work the collar on and off the shaft until its smooth again.

I was talking with my dealer about how much of a pain it is to fix the fan, (while I was there I left him the website for brotek and some other places to help other BX owners in the area) but he was telling me the replacement fan from kubota, has made it easier to fix this when it happens. Also, try kubota books for your manual,

My dealer said he can fix/replace the fan for less than $600 and was looking at putting some skid plates on. I was thinking of Bro-Tek, but I have a MMM, so I don't think that will work. I may have to go with the custom ones my dealer puts on. I don't know the price yet, but this is what I was considering.

I was able to get the PTO shaft out pretty easily. Felt kind of silly when I figured out how easy it was. Without the owners manual, some of these easy things are a little more difficult. Owners manual should arrive in 10 days.

Thanks for all your input.

The Bro-Tek rear skid plate can be used with the MMM attached, it's only the front skid plate that will not work with the MMM. The rear plate will protect your HST fan blades and filter. Bro-Tek cut out a hole in the plate that will allow the mid PTO shaft to fit through and onto the spline. Even with the rear skid plate mounted, it's easy to attach the PTO shaft.

Sometime in the near future I am planing to build a skid plate that attaches to the lift arms for th MMM. I have seen a few good ideas on TBN in a couple of threads. I want it to be easily installed and removed so when the mower deck is off I have protection front to back. I think that with a MMM installed their isn't much need for guards and the permanently mounted guard on the back would make installing and removing the PTO shaft a real pain.
