I'm thinking of selling my 2763A plow and replace it with a front mounted snowthrower. I have a few questions before I do this:
1) Which model snowthrower should I be looking for?
2) Should I hang onto the hitch, or let it go with the plow?
3) Is there another brand available beside the Kubota?

I would keep your quick hitch. Just add the driveline kit (PTO shaft). Don't quote me, but I'm thinking the blower model # is 2750 ? Buy the blower and don't look back (though I might also keep the plow for snowfalls under 4").

Thanks very much for the info! Most of the storms we received this year have overwhealmed the plow; it was just too much for it. Perhaps it's operator error, but here's what I've noticed. In the parking area, I can push the snow well off onto the lawn and away from the asphalt, and there's plenty of room to store a winter's worth of snow. But on the driveway portion, the plow just pushes off to the side and a berm quickly builds right along the edge of it. This has reached a height where the plow is unable to lift to snow up and over it, and it just falls back onto the driveway as I pass by. In this area, I am unable to push it off and away due to ledge and trees.

what you need to do is drive in low gear with plow halfway up or all the way up and take 6 inches at a time to knock down the berm as you drive along on your first pass. the second pass do a cleanup and push the snow away to an area you can pile it up. repeat until you get the berm pushed back far enough for the next storm. I do the same with my plow, but then my plow is 7 ft wide so its easy to stay away from snow falling in path of tires.

3. Nope, if u want a front snowblower that is the only game in town.:(
4. Do not forget the cab $$, snowblowing without a cab is NOT fun.

Can you use the FEL to move the piles back so the plow will work??

Thanks for the advice. I think I've cooked my goose for the remainder of the winter with regards to the driveway. The berm has reached nearly 4' and has the base of it has been there since late December, and is frozen solid. I'm using my self propelled snowthrower in that area and it's no problem. But after using the tractor, I didn't want to switch back to a walk behind! I've considered putting the FEL back on and digging out the berm, but not being an emergency, I'm less....motivated! I just saw one on Craig's List for $2800 complete with the hitch. About 3 hours away. I'm thinking.....!!

Try to do what Radioman said, find a place to pile it. I use a 6 1/2' power angle and never have more than 2' along the drive but I have several 8' piles pushed.

Instead of the $$ cab, ski goggles and a hooded coat will do -- alot cheaper.

Jabroni, If you haven't figured it out by now, you will need the hitch. I have the same problem on our new driveway where there are embankments on both sides in certain spots - there is no place for the snow to go. However, I manged with the same BX2763A blade fairly well until this last storm. I would plow the driveway and then plow "sideways in the areas I could. I would then push the snow from the narrow areas to the ones I just opened up. This weekend I took the plow off and put the FEL back on. I widened the whole driveway (~ 700 ft with incline) and pushed the banks back so I should be all set for about three more good storms. It did not take long to take the plow off and put the FEL on. Nor did it take long to put the plow back on today, either. I use dollies for the attachments and I thinks that helps a lot. I thought about the snowblower, but have two college tuitions right now, so I am making do, and it's not so bad. - Chris
