I never got a belly mower for my B5200 because I felt it would hamper access to certain parts of my property. I used my brand new BX24 for the first time today for some dirt movementm stump removal and some field mowing. I have to say, that all the way up it did not cause vertical clearance problems. It did cause some horizontal clearance problems which were resolved by lifting the plastic discharge protector.

I am thinking that I may not have to remove the mower very often (a good thing as the 60 incher I have weighs a good 250 lbs.). What is the experience of longer term users.

Mine has never been removed... one pin refuses to move... It does drag in the snow when I use the loader but the extra 250 pounds of belly weight far off sets the issues. Right now, MMM and tractor are at the dealer being repaired for a spindle issue so it may be off the tractor now for maintenance issues?

Well, that's what I thought, I suspect most users keep it on most of the time. The sales guy showed me "how easy" it was to remove, but it didn't seem so easy to me. I mean, I could do it, but having to do it often would be a pain. He also showed me how easy it was to remove the loader and backhoe, but I would venture to say that I doubt I will remove them.

I took mine off in the fall for snow duty and have not put it back on yet. If you have soft or muddy ground the mower will get you stuck. I've buried the tractor twice while the deck was attached. I was able to get myself out between the loader and backhoe, but the deck will get you hung up. Once mowing season starts it will probably stay on, but it is something to keep in mind, depending on your soil.

montelatici, as I understand it, you mow with the loader and the backhoe on. If you have the chance could you get a picture of that. I hope you have turf tires. I have a loader, a backhoe and a MMM on my B3030 but I never mowed with the loader and backhoe on. I mount the mower only when I need it.

Interesting...

Well, I used the tractor for the first time today, and yes, I mowed lawn and fields with the loader and backhoe attached and with industrial (R40) tires not turf tires.

I have mowed my fields with a B5200 Kubota (Ag tires) with a rear PTO bush hog for the past 22 years and have used lawn tractors for my lawns. I have gone through 3-4 lawn tractors in 22 years. I now have this BX24 with a belly mower and it seems to handle my fields ok and does the lawn ok with the loader and backhoe attached.

Mowing with the backhoe + loader = laughing neighbors :D

I'm not gonna go there, I drop the hoe and bucket before I mow.

NO kidding.

C'mon guys you're dragging around a $3k mower deck and cutting your ground clearance in half. Or mowing with a half-ton of ballast and a nasty tailswing.

The MMM gets easier every time you mount/dismount the thing. I promise. The BH goes on and off without even getting you dirty.

I gotta wonder HOW ARE YOU GUYS GETTING GREASE TO ALL THOSE ZERKS? MMM wants frequent grease. If you're not dropping your mower deck for maintenance mjarrels, it's no wonder you are having spindle problems!

On BX23 the 3ph links (and consequently the mower linkage) won't go more than about half-way down with the backhoe on. Manual says don't mow with BH on.

I'm with the saucy Texan and MOPAULY on this one - When it's a tractor - the deck is off - then it's a mover - the tractor parts are off...

One time while digging a long trench with the BH - a fancy jogger lady went down the road... I broke OSHA standards - watched the suspension and... ended up with the tractor half in the trench I was digging... if the MMM was on - it would have been wrecked!

Tractor for tractoring - mower for mowing... You spent a lot of green on the BX24 for all the hours of skilled engineering that went into making the BH, MMM and FEL super easy to remove and replace - for that very reason.
