Going to look at a bx24 tomorrow. It has 1500 hours. Of course the loader and backhoe, but also includes a 60"mmm and 3 point carry all. He is at $9000. Anything as far as problem areas I need to lookout for........
Check the hydraulics cooling fan underneath. Look for cracks on the at the joint of the fender and floor/see if they put in the kit to fix the problem. Love my BX24, good luck.
The bracket for the air cleaner is prone to failure because the engine vibrates quite a bit at low rpm. Check for cracks. Lots of owners bought or made their own reinforcements, which solves the problem.
Try to find out if engine and hydraulic fluid has been changed regularly... keeping them clean and fresh is important. If the service has been done, 1,500 hours is nothing to worry about; if it was never done, keep shopping.
Thanks for the advice. I had to pass on it. It was spray painted on the loader and backhoe. I hate when I see that! Also the air filter was plugged almost solid. Hard to believe it even ran. Had the hood bonnet cracked and broken in several spots as well.
ced, I looked at an old Ford tractor/backhoe yesterday that would have made that BX24 look like a showroom new model. When people are too lazy to clean an air filter before showing a tractor, or they use spray paint to cover up problems but are too lazy to even try to do a decent job with the paint, it tells you something about their maintenance habits.
There are good ones out there but as you've found, they can be mortally abused. On the other side of the coin (the mint ones) never make it to advertising, when someone says the word, the phone starts ringing. Nice ones don't last long and sometimes at insane prices.
