Kubota BX25
About 3 months ago I lent my BX25 to a friend to move some rocks. I found out a few days later that a stick had gotten stuck into the HST Fans Fins and broken some of them off. My friend quickly turned off the machine and replaced the broken fan with one from the local Kubota shop. He tells me the replacement was a nightmare and took many hours to replace a simple $20 part. So here's my problem. I have 300 hours on the machine (which I love) so I consider myself an expert when it comes to MY MACHINE. I know how it sounds, how it feels and how it drives.

The day after getting it back from my friend I noticed a slight vibration when strain was placed on the engine, (kind of the feeling you get in your bum when a PTO is running). It seemed to be only when using the FEL but that may have been just because thats what I was doing at the time. Ive had a look over the machine and didnt find anything, Ive actually even put about 30 hrs on her since all of this and things do seem to be WORKING FINE.

Perhaps Im being wireded out by someone else pulling her apart without me being there but I just cant let it go. The vibration hasent gotten worse (I dont seem to notice it much now but that might be because Ive gotten use to the NEW NORMAL) nor completely gone away.

I asked my friend about it because he is a fairly good back yard mechanic and he assures me the replacement was very time consuming but a simple one to do, even if the engine did have to be shifted forward to do the job.
Is there anything I can check myself that might help me sleep through the night? Ive considered taking it back to the dealer but I dont even know what to tell them, and Im sure it would cost of several hours of labor. Any help or advice would be great.

Sleepless

Not to be a jerk but "do not loan out your machine". I will not do it for anyone. If they need the tractor then I come with it. This way if something happens I'm there. Like I said not trying to be an *****. You may want to get some skid plates for it if you haven't already

I totally agree..... Ive owned her for only a year now and have had soooo many people ask, Ive always said no, this was the only time and the last for sure.... Im asking Santa for a skid plate.

Sounds like something in driveline not concentric when put back...don't know how much tolerence in bolts/holes, or if "clocked" to different hole. Other possibility...he may have pried on shaft during removal/reinstall and slightly bent it. I'd look at shaft while running to see if off center...

Final thought...maybe left bolts loose somewhere...

you could have had kubota fix it and your buddy could have picked up the deductible.. assuming you had the insurance to begin with. i'd get it to a shop asap. had a bx25 and surely miss it. maybe i can borrow yours:thumbsup:

Its possible something was missed. I'd check out the replacement procedures and walk yourself through the machine and count every bolt there should be. Perhaps the bolts are loose on engine. perhaps the bonnet bolt is loose. radiator net bolts missing/loose. count to see if there are 3 bolts on propellor shaft and tight. is the bolt holding propellor fan to shaft of tranny torqued to 7.2-7.3ftlbs?

Every now and then I think a new noise or vibration is occuring on my BX2660. I've checked engine mounts etc. but never find anything amiss. It's kinda like my old body pains....after while they just go away. Maybe you'll be that lucky. .. seriously.

I agree, I had a vibration/noise that was driving me nuts for a few months, finally discovered it was the side of the hood vibrating. If I held my hand against it the vibration went away. So I bought one of those radio headsets and now I just turn up the volume if I think I hear or feel something. Eventually I forget about it.

If interested, you should be able to get rid of most of this noise by placing foam window strips in strategic places inside the hood. Worked wonders on my BX24 hood.
