Actually I did ask it, but the OP didn't seem to think insurance would apply so im not sure he has it or not.
Well, you did and he did, but I didn't look close enough.
But this kind of incident is what the Kubota insurance is for.

I do have the required insurance...is it covered then?

I am fairly sure it is. Check with your dealer, or Kubota.
You have a $250 deductible, but that is far easier than your repair costs.

It says "mechanical breakdown" not covered.......I may call on Monday. The repair with a 200 hour service was 3052.00, so I would be happy to pay the deductible......

I have to say that I admire the OP for admitting right up front that it was his fault because he failed to adjust the slip clutch. There are a lot of folks that wouldn't admit it, and would be on here blaming Kubota or the stump grinder manufacturer.

Honesty and acceptance of fault are hard to find in most people these days.

Before you use the "Grinder" again go here How to Measure and Cut a Tractor PTO Shaft - YouTube and watch the video on how to measure and cut a PTO shaft. Grinders require a lot up and down draft arm movement when in use. A too long PTO shaft can cause damage that looks like it was caused by something else.

I appreciate the input and compliment. I have used the stump grinder for 2 years, so I am pretty confident the shaft was the correct length. I never loosened the slip clutch and adjusted it. I also have had many occasions where the grinder actually killed the engine. I never thought it would do what it did.....if I knew that, it would have adjusted it. This is my first tractor. I also didn't know that in order to get the PTO shaft to freewheel to connect the PTO shaft, that you had to move it to the mid mount PTO position. I was forever trying to align the shaft for connection. Even when I bitched to the dealer about how hard it was to connect the implement , the didn't tell me what I could be doing wrong........ Also, I picked up my tractor from the repair, drove it in the trailer and went to go get the stump grinder from the job site and found this when I opened the door........any ideas? No leaks when I dropped it off.......

Well that sucks. That joint is known for leaking. I've even seen a post where one of the parts had a crack. Mine has a very slight off and on again leak. Yours looks pretty bad. Check the front axle level first thing.

Looks like your axle seal went bad. I know there are other posts where there are details on replacing this seal.
