Thanks. It was requested by one of our youtube subscribers. He wants to add one to his grandfathers new BX so how could I turn him down with a request like that ;)
It's that easy??? I dream of a grapple for my BX! I am now trying to pull apart, cut up, haul, and burn about 3/4acre of maple, cedar, and fir tree branches, mature brush, root balls, etc. piled up by the excavator earlier this year. He said it would settle and disappear in no time but I guess I am getting impatient! :D

I'm just trying to take something I already have and make it more useful by adding the grapple to it. I already have the 3rd function valve on the machine. I could have really used it a few months ago so I know what you mean. Mine didn't disappear. They've been around on the ground for 15 years.

Well I'll keep this short and post a video on it one of those days but here's how my latest grapple project turned out. I Didn't need a dedicated grapple so I designed this.
The tines are 1/2 thick, the duel independent hydraulic cylinders are 3" with plenty of force. I wanted to keep the top spill guard in place so that meant the tines had to be a little longer than normal. I have it all set up that if the grapple gets in my way its a ten minute removal with the linch pins. I've got some rock I need to clean up next summer so this should make it easier. I also fabricated a tooth bar that should make digging easier.

Thats quite the grapple. I take it that its no longer a dedicated winter machine...

Thanks. The only time it will be used for snow is on our own property. Just got sick of pushing the snow so I'm taking a break from it. I still have the snow bucket & blade if I need to move any. In the spring I'll continue to do some work on the rear portion of our property with the Bx and the Grand L.

Great job, looks like it is plenty heavy duty.

Great job on the grapple bucket! Very well engineered! I could have used one myself while removing a few very large stumps that would't fit in the bucket today.

Thanks for sharing and it's always nice to see what you've been up to!

Holy Crap! Another masterpiece!!! I am interested to understand your wisdom behind the shape of the grapple arms? Oh... and action shots too! :licking:

Thanks. Built it as strong as I could. We all tend to push our machines at times so when I get in that situation I need to feel it's up to the task.

Ya the stumps are buggers to handle with just a bucket. Same goes for rocks. Can't count how many times I had something in the bucket to the point it was neither in or out. The grapple should help in that situation. Glad you enjoyed seeing it.

Thanks you my friend. Well the grapple was a bit of a challenge to say the least. I had originally adapted a spill guard on the OEM bucket so I didn't want to delete that. Making that decision caused a lot of grief for me because it meant the tines had to be designed longer because the bucket was higher and I wanted the tines to sweep back and hit the bucket. It did cause me to loose a little height but the design I closed on was more than exceptable so I'm happy. Of course having it a double grapple didn't help matters either. I also had two slots cut in the original spill guard for the hooks so when I added more plate on the opposite side of the spill guard I had to channel the two pieces so the gravel wouldn't go in between the two plates. One obstacle after another but as my friends say, I always take the long way around
