What? No tire shine? I am horrified!!!

ha! Unfortunetely my tractor doesnt stay clean long, my driveway and yard can get quite mucky!

On a side note, how do you like the blade setup on your tractor fick? Any regrets and wish you got the blower instead? Might break down and buy one or the other, although if the weather stays like it has been, maybe not even need it.

i just got a bush hog sq142 for my bx24. its obviously 42". i am so glad i did not get a 48". not that it couldn't handle it but the 42 is the exact width of the tractor and on that particular model the frame is not square, its back 2 corners are round. it allowed for such awesome manuverability in the woods. i just cut about 5 acres of thick underbrush through somewhat tight woods and i was able to get between even the tightest trees and make nice sharp turns because those corners were rounded. the bush hog had slightly heavier gauge metal on it than landpride and woods. its built really heavy and solid. any of the bx's would never be able to kill it. only way i would get a larger one is if i was only using it to mow fields.

I use my 48" Land Pride for much the same thing as you, having taken some land out of production and reforested it with hardwoods and conifers and have not found the 48" to be too wide behind my BX2660. I did look at the Woods as we have a couple of their bigger models, but they didn't offer it in a 48" cut. We don't have any Bush Hog dealers in our area, but past experience has shown them to be very tough and reliable. Out of curiosity, I checked the specs and didn't see where the Bush Hog is substantially different with the Land Pride being heavier. I also like the optional slip clutch. Both appear to be good mowers.

I sprung big 'O bucks for the 60" deeelux, fully hydraulic plow and QC. I dunno. I am an old plow guy from way, way back. I got a nifty self propelled, two stage beast of a snow blower, but the darn wind always seem to blow it back into your face.

I actually wanted the tractor time, frankly. I don't mind plowing, and I have my own two car, 90 ft drive and my neighbors 130 ft drive to do. We shall see. No snow yet. Beside, the front blower was easily another grand over the blade. I got a chief financial officer to report to, ya know.

BTW, you could always plow with that Deere lurking in your 'Bota shed.

i remember when looking up the specs of most of the hogs, the bush hog was just 1 gauge thicker sheetmetal. not a big deal or anything.

That is the only difference I could see and I do like the thicker deck, but no one around here handles them; I looked around before buying my 10'6" rotary cutter from Woods.

Hi amg280,
My suggestion is to stay with the 60" PTO shredder for your BX. For one, it cuts a path wider than your tractor. It is a lot of mower for that tractor, but just adjust the "cut" to the conditions and I believe it will do the job fine. King Kutter at TSC is a good heavy duty brand.
I love my BX2200 too.
Sincerely,
JBX

Agree, they are all good. I run the Woods DS1260 10'6" cutter with my 80 HP Case. The cutters most people around here run are the 15' Woods batwing, now those take some power.

I use my Kubota for those places a bigger tractor won't fit.
