I mounted my new snowthrower to my BX24 today. I have a couple of questions with regards to its operation.

1) Is it best to allow the snowthrower to "float", or should down pressure be applied?

2) When the snowthrower is engaged, it's pretty noisy while it's running. I don't think there's any binding as I have no problem turning the output shaft by hand. Does this sound normal? This is a brand new unit.

I keep mine in float to follow the contours of my drive. There is a certain amount of noise generated by the blower but when your blowing snow it quiets down some.

If have a gravel drive, you will probably find that it is best to keep the blower off the ground just a little until you get hard base of snow built up for it to run on.

It is hard to tell about the noise, but blowers are generally pretty quiet. If it is new to you, but used, I would look for a bent shaft. A bent shaft could be causing a chain to go tight and slack, which would make some noise (just a guess).

It's an asphalt driveway, and the unit is brand new.

By the way, it was very easy to install, and I should be able to easily switch out the snowthrower for the plow when I have to.

The only thing I don't like about it is the rinky dink way they secure the manual chute rotation crank. On the BX, an "eye" is secured to the loader control shaft to support the long control shaft. When you rotate the crank, the loader handle wiggles back and forth and overall is pretty shakey. The kit came with mounting hardware for other tractor models, and that stuff appears a lot more substantial. A bit of grease on the worm and teeth on the chute makes it much better, but in retrospect, I should have sprung for the rotation option. Wonder if it's retrofittable?

Just recently installed my new BX2750D on my BX2360 and also noticed a fair amount of noise. I thought it was coming mainly from the chain area. TBN members assured me it was normal. I did adjust the chain tension to specs when I found it was as tight as a banjo string and that quieted it down a little bit. May just be the nature of the beast.

If you apply any downpressure, you will immediately eliminate your steering!!!

Jabroni, the manual crank chute grows old fast. Last winter was my first with the 2750D blower and I ended up holding the joystick steady with my left hand while turning the crank with my right. If I didn't do this I would find myself raising and lowering the blower while I cranked. This year I have made 2 modifications. I added a hydraulic chute rotator (copied from Dyer, retired) and new skids. The chute rotator cost about $200 to do. I live on a gravel road and my driveways are gravel and I was throwing a lot of rocks until I got a good base. I found the OEM skids only allowed about 1/2" of height adjustment so I made some new ones from ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. It's just a very dense plastic which is workable like wood; you can cut it, rout it, even drill and tap it. Anyway, it's very slippery and wears well. I made these 1 in. thick and bolted them to the bottom of the OEM skids. I had the material for the skids, but McMaster-Carr carries it. Now I'm waiting for snow to see how they work. Photos of the chute rotator and skids can be found at the end of my Kubota Gallery.

dsmiley, real nice setup for the motor on the rotator. You dont have a part number on the motor?? Vendor where it was purchased ?? Was the motor mount bought or fabricated ?? How did you cut the extra teeth in ?? Thanks

Are there stops to the chute rotation, or can it go round 'n round in one direction?
