Resurecting this thread, progress has been made.
Starting off, the power steering. Got a hydraulic power steering off a john deere 318, cylinder off
surplus center.
Mounting brackets made, custom hoses made.
Cylinder mounted and hoses run. Everything works perfectly.
Used it all summer to cut grass with a 60" rear finishing deck. Was annoying, picked up a matching zero turn for $500 with a bad hydro and rebuilt it.
Now stocked up on diesel fuel with electric pump, 14' hose, and nozzle.
Now that the battery is not easily accessible, I added a jump point under the hood.
Time for hydraulics to raise/lower the snowblower. Right fender seemed like a prime location.
More custom hoses set me back $400 and the wife didn't talk to me for 2 days.
Can't reverse because the new hydraulic lines off the hydraulic block. Fixed.
That brings us to present day. Took the blade back to clear some brush. 4wd worked great. Honestly couldn't be happier.
7' back blade doesn't fit in the garage without turning it. Also doesn't raise high enough. Also only clear front door by about 2" when up against the wall.
Overall I have about 6k in this project, have learned a lot of useful skills, and learned a lot about my machine. At the point where if I can picture it in my head, I can build it, and that's a good place to be.
