Added the linear actuator to raise/lower the chute, and power window motor to turn it left/right today.

Yeah I hear you guys are getting something good. Here we still have nothing. Little brushing last thursday, but nothing since then.

It seems like all the snow we missed out on Dec/Jan arrived the last 2 weeks.

Once again, I'm glad it missed me(sort of). I broke the steering shaft trying to turn the wheels on asphault while stationary with the blower up. I'm making a power steering system for it now.

Ouch. Power steering is a worthy add-on.

Sadly there's no factory options available. Existed at one time, but no longer. Same with aftermarket. I have a JD 322 hydro steering box on the way, will make a custom mount for it, plumb it into the factory power steering block on the tractor, and weld up a mount for a cylinder to attach to the frame.

I fixed my shaft, but it's still a real bear to turn the wheels when moving, let alone not, so power steering is a desirable feature for me. Still, I'm treading new territory and figuring it out as I go. Cab is pretty much done, just need the door windows, but I don't think we're going to have any snow this year, so that really isn't a priority. The cab will come off for the summer and it will pull a 60" mower behind it, so I'll need steering regardless.

I realize that, did you see the link in my signature? :D

Too bad the guy that sold me mine is no longer selling them but there are other ways to make it happen.

Resurecting this thread, progress has been made.

Starting off, the power steering. Got a hydraulic power steering off a john deere 318, cylinder off surplus center.

Mounting brackets made, custom hoses made.

Cylinder mounted and hoses run. Everything works perfectly.

Used it all summer to cut grass with a 60" rear finishing deck. Was annoying, picked up a matching zero turn for $500 with a bad hydro and rebuilt it.

Now stocked up on diesel fuel with electric pump, 14' hose, and nozzle.

Now that the battery is not easily accessible, I added a jump point under the hood.

Time for hydraulics to raise/lower the snowblower. Right fender seemed like a prime location.

More custom hoses set me back $400 and the wife didn't talk to me for 2 days.

Can't reverse because the new hydraulic lines off the hydraulic block. Fixed.

That brings us to present day. Took the blade back to clear some brush. 4wd worked great. Honestly couldn't be happier.

7' back blade doesn't fit in the garage without turning it. Also doesn't raise high enough. Also only clear front door by about 2" when up against the wall.

Overall I have about 6k in this project, have learned a lot of useful skills, and learned a lot about my machine. At the point where if I can picture it in my head, I can build it, and that's a good place to be.
