That is basic rudeness and, worse, stupidity for someone in the retail business. They did a disservice to whoever owns the business, even if it was themselves. Dumb.

They don't call it "taxachusetts" for nothing! lol
Yeah, they do: MA is just about in the middle in terms of taxation, in between VT and ME. And substantially lower than "Upper Mid West" states like MI, WI, IL, etc.

216’s States with the Highest & Lowest Tax Rates | WalletHub(R)

And the prices are just as high in NH, which has the lowest state tax burden in New England. I bought my L3200 in NH from a ME-based dealer and paid $1,800 to $2,000 more than the best prices I saw in other regions.

I've been to taxachusetts, (wife has relation there) land tax is MUCH higher than in the upper mid west where we live, as is everything else there. The rest of the east coast cost more than here too... housing, gas, food, tires ect... How about those land prices over that way??

Sales tax here is 6%, but I don't have to pay sales tax on the tractors or any farm type equipment I buy... how about you?? I guess we better not mention your firearms laws, either!! lol

Kind of funny, if you bought a post hole digger from him, wouldn't you then be one of his customers? Sales people are sometimes real stupid...... How did he know that you might not be in the market for a new tractor soon?

Think about how many people someone like me would tell about his rude irrational statement. He would have everyone I know steering clear of his lot and it seems that someone is always buying something weather it be a tractor or an attachment or just supplies but its always something and he now lost that potential business.

Kubota Dealers have been far and few between around here.

So if I have to travel anyway... it opens a world of options.

I did contact Kubota Corp about the sales territory thing... I was told Dealers do have assigned territory and should a warranty issue arise they are often best resolved by the selling dealer.

Have met a few people where a bad Dealer experience has changed how they see the manufacturer... just as a good one has the opposite effect.

The warranty is a manufacturer's warranty. Dealers are a little put off if you did not buy there but usually come around once they realize they are a manufacturer's rep, not a rep for what they sold.

True and it did strike me as odd when corporate said this.

I've been hearing Lemon Law Automotive cases for decades... occasionally, there will be a problem with auto dealers and once the manufacturer gets involved that goes away.

One of the local Ford dealers actually put it in writing that warranty work on vehicles purchased elsewhere would be scheduled after serving their customers... the Dealer is no longer in business and it did rile a lot of people at the time.

There is more to the post hole digger story...

So after the Dealer told me he would not sell the unit in stock because I did not buy the tractor there... I called the manufacturer and he gave me the name of a Dealer in the North Bay which I called and learned they did not carry the posthole digger part of the line... said they just didn't sell the PTO version...

Went back to the implement manufacturer and the rep offered to sell to me direct... so it did all work out.
