power trac 428
I'm new to the forum and looking to buy a power-trac. However since I will be in snow country - Montana and have about 900 feet of road, I really need a cab. I have read the discussions, but have not seen any pictures or a 425 with a cab. Also does anyone know where an after market cab could be bought or fabricated. Thanks ahead of time.

Welcome to the forum. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have seen a cab on a PT425 in some literature several years ago. Can't find it now. You may want to call Power Trac and ask them directly. Their number is 1-800-THE-YARD.

I would be curious to know if they still offer it.

Thanks for the suggestions, however earlier I called Power-trac and they did not have any cabs. They then referred me to Martin Cab Company who stated that they did not make any cabs for the 425. Therefore I turned to the fine folks here to see if anyone could be of help /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Boy, I'm sure I saw it in their literature. It looked like it was black plastic or figerglass, perhaps, but knowing PT, it was probably 1/4 sheet metal! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I get chills just thinking about 900' of road during one of your Montana snowstorms! Hope we can help you out on this.

You might want to try contacting the Key Dollar Company out of OR. They are an Ag/Industrial fabricator with a custom bent. They claim to have or can fabricate cabs for all manner of tractor and ATVs, as well.

Their home page is:
Key Dollar Cab, Inc.

Meantime, I'll do some additional checking and get back to this thread if I come up with anything else. Martin came to mind, but you've already checked that out.

Later...

Take your 425 with canopy to your local auto upholstry shop and they can make a canvas cab like a jeep top with snaps or velcro attached, zipper doors, lexan windshild, sewen in clear plastic windows, mounted on the machine for around $500.00. Move the oil cooler and fan into the operators compartment and you have heat. Works well for us.

I checked with them and bingo they have made a cab for the 1850 but not the 425. However they did give me some estimates for a 425 cab. "Full Steel Cab for $3,711.00 Fabric cab which is made of
>Black vinyl sewn to clear vinyl for the windows, nylon zippered side
>doors and would attach to factory overhead guard with PSA
>Velcro and a few ties. $943.00 Steel Vinyl Cab which is the
>Fabric cab with a steel front panel that has laminated glass and a 12
>volt wiper system. $1,880.00 These woul be the cab style available.
>Keep in mind these would be a new design and truck would be needed to
>manufacture. See attachment of Cab Styles sent and you can get a better
>picture of each unit.

Again thanks for the tip.
