That was an insult to those who sacrifice so much for all of us. While you have the luxury to sit there in your underwear writing that diatribe, there are soldiers in countries that few of us have ever seen and never want to see, defending us and risking everything to do so.

I can't imagine the sacrifice they make. I remind myself daily that when I have a horrible day, it's a day at the beach compaired to anyone serving in any branch of the military.

I hope you're re-thinking your statement.

Funny, I read it as mocking the "leadership" that trusts the soldiers with explosives, but not a chainsaw. The same "leadership" that sends soldiers out in the field with automatic weapons, explosives, artillery, etc. but won't let them keep a pistol at home.

I certainly didn't see it that way. If that's what he was saying, he should have said it. A friends son was killed by one of those things that go BOOM. So I'm a little touchy on the matter.

I understand what both sides are saying, the sad thing is, what most of the time these soldiers risk thier life for are the political agenda of the souless greedy ****heads in washington. Wether I agree with what they fight for or not, I respect thier fortitude and dedication in the matter. And sitting on the sidelines I do think his " chainsaw " comment was more of a joke due to the complete idiocracy of our state leadership, i mean come on, of course they can use a chain saw, its all BS red tape, the same tape that ****s everything up every day.

+1 that is how I read it too,
Rick

Same.

On a happier note, does anyone wish to overnight 10 inches of snow to ohio with a nice 30mph wind? :licking:

My My people get so testy

Wether I agree with what they fight for or not, I respect thier fortitude and dedication in the matter. And that is pretty much what I did say and not ONCE did I denigrate the troops that were busting their butts moving fallen trees and such. The comment was directed at the so called leadership that would not allow them to do it efficiently by using something as mundane as a chainsaw.

If the CANADIAN military had used the excuse that they didn't have chainsaws, well that wouldn't have flown very far either simply because it would have taken one call out for help and every manufacture of chainsaws would have sent their products out by the boxcar load, it would have been Fantastic PR, but the military "leadership" chose not to do that. instead they chose to make it look like the only things that the these "highly trained" individuals were qualified to use in an emergency were axes and bucksaws.

"Military Intelligence" Now there is indeed a contradiction in terms.

So if anyone felt offended, well ain't that just to **** bad. Corrupt and incompetent government plus needless killing offends me, but Rah Rah Rally around the flag boys ain't gonna change that.

Man, send some my way :0 I'm all set, got a generator and a tractor, snowblower, ATV plow, snow shovel and roof scraper. And I have the ability to work from home-bring it! I do have to get some pellets for my stove though....

What a bunch of wusses in Michigan, calling out the military for a few inches of snow and some wind :( The last time we called out our military it was because of a major ice storm, people were without power for a month and downed trees, power towers were down everywhere.

We still see the damage caused by that ice storm.

I'd say that hit a nerve. If I recall correct, that was under the former Liberal government's term, where we had to ask Uncle Sam to help us get our troops deployed in our own country. As a proud former member of the Canadian Armed Forces, I would say that the comment was directed more towards the government at the time and not our dedicated service men. Now lets get back to the task at hand. Winter.
