can a rechargeable 12v battery power a pump?

"Just wire it to tractor when it arrives" as I do not have the system yet but have looked at what is included with it, I believe it comes with clips to attach to a battery. How can it (easily) be wired to the tractor? I have ordered a Tectran 7-Way SAE Plug with Spring Guard and am hoping my electrician neighbor can set it up for me. He has a lot on his plate so do not know how quickly he will be able to do this.

Thank you. Could not find what I was looking for. Some videos were for pto powered systems and some showed how to connect to battery via 2 pin clip. Connecting directly to battery in front of tractor is not doable.

"may destroy the batteries in the process." Just curious, how could this occur? If the 2.2 gpm pump ran continuously while connected to the 12v battery, wouldn't it just drain the battery?
If you have a 12V lead acid battery, it should really be kept between about 11v and 12.6v or so. Drop it down below 10v, and you have a chance of doing permanent damage to the battery.

Drop it down to, say 6v, and you almost certainly will reduce the life of the battery.

A lot of devices will have a low voltage cutoff, but many electric motors will just run until they can't get enough juice to move, at which point you're in the danger zone.

Some will depend on how you're using your sprayer. Is it a large area sprayer? Wand operated spot sprayer? Continuous use near peak power? How long?

As far as wiring it into your tractor. Every setup will be different. But, if you have large alligator clips (battery charger clips), then just clip the to the tractor battery, and add long enough wire to reach the sprayer. Probably just two strands (+/-). You'll need to route the wire so it doesn't interfere with anything. Perhaps some plastic zip-ties, or some bailing twine, or whatever you like to hold stuff up.

As the tractor has no cab, it has no 12v outlet. The current spray system is powered by a plug to the seven terminal outlet on the back of the tractor and is easy to connect and disconnect.
Is there a reason why you can't power the new pump off the same seven terminal plug? Just get the plug end and wire it to the new sprayer. Or, add wire and battery clips as mentioned temporarily.

"power the new pump off the same seven terminal plug" yes, I could. But. I plan on keeping the old d.i.y. sprayer setup as a backup. It currently is functioning and rather limping along. I have ordered a new identical(so I know it will fit in the tractor outlet) 7 terminal plug, it should arrive shortly, the sprayer should be in at Lowes next week too. I just need to get a off/on rocker switch and I will be ready for my electrician friend to go to work.

Most any auto parts store sells the rocker switch and rolls of wire you need.

Good to know, thank you.

One has to wonder if the 7 pin connector is same as found on pickup trucks..... And Why you had to order it through a home building supply....

Her 7 pin connector for a 5055 JD probably looks like this. Id. presume you can piggy-back 12V and ground by add 2 extra wires to the current sprayer feed (so to speak !). You get what you Voltaged for....

Is that the same as a semi trailer plug?
