Re: Can a TC24 run a 72\" finish mower?

Hi Chuck,
If it's in the middle of summer and dry I can pretty much run in 2nd @ 20-2200 RPM. When it is bad out there, I'm more like 2nd @ 22-max RPM. You might have advantage @ 24hp on a class 1. But if just cutting an acre you may want to opt for the movement. I do 5 acres in 2-3hrs depending on the rain. If you have any rolling hills, stay away from a side mower and spend extra for a rear discharge. My Landpride was 2400$.

Re: Can a TC24 run a 72\" finish mower?

Well I just heard back from the dealer and the guy won't budge from the $1200 price. The thing is new but has just been sitting for a couple of years. I crawled under it and it hasn't cut any grass yet. Do you guys think it's worth the $1200? I was hoping to stay under $1000 for a finish mower but the chances of a used one coming up for sale within a couple hundred miles is kind of slim I suppose.

And my tractor is actually going to be delivered tonight. The truck couldn't be in the area until today. Can't wait.

Re: Can a TC24 run a 72\" finish mower?

I probably should keep my mouth shut because I haven't taken delivery of my TC24DA yet (should arrive next week), but since I have owned a Kubota CUT for the last 5 years, have 10 acres and do a lot of mowing & brush cutting think I'm qualified to give my opinion.

I'd stick to a mower no larger than 60" on a TC24DA if it were me, the PTO HP is about 19HP and in thick grass as Bob mentioned I think you could get "bogged down" in the power department.

my 2 cents

Re: Can a TC24 run a 72\" finish mower?

I have a 72" blower that I picked up cheap. It's big. I have hit many things with it, but I my area is very tight. I have to be very careful with it because it sticks out at least a foot on each side. It's not so much the straight shots, but the swing that kills me.

Well, we could get a bunch of rear finish mowers and do a "doe see doe, swing your partner."?? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Can a TC24 run a 72\" finish mower?

Well I can say that a TC24DA will run a 72" Land Pride mower deck just fine. It's definitely not the ideal size for it but it will handle it. When in the long stuff it was working a bit harder than I would like but now that I've got it mowed I an stay on top of it.

This is a pic of it on my trailer. It barely fit on my 5x8. There is a picture of it mounted on the tractor in another post with some other pics of the new tractor.

Wow on those prices!

I'm considering upgrading to a compact - didn't think I could justify it on such a small property, but after a year, I've found that I've been wanting a larger machine for the last 6 months (at least). I just got a price of $ 16,100 for a leftover TC24DA & 12LA + $ 6,400 for 756c on Saturday from a nearby dealer for a total of $ 22,500. Your prices come to $19,820 for that setup. The price I got is a 60" mid mount mower's worth more than your price. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif My dealer doesn't have any leftover TC24's or DX24's - probably because he doesn't gouge his customers.

Re: Can a TC24 run a 72\" finish mower?

Talked to my dealer this afternoon and my TC24DA should be delivered next wee (6/21).

Here is my price breakdown;

NH TC24DA w/R4's $11600
12LA FEL w/54" buck $3600
756c BH w/12" buck $5200
105A tiller (52"?) $1500
NH 48" Rotary Cutter $845
tooth bar for 54" bucket $300
Rim guard loaded tires $250

Total $23,000 (less dealers generous discount)
.....this includes deliver (150 miles round trip), pick up & delivery for warranty work & 50 hour maintenance. Dealer also agreed to do 50 hour maintenance for "Zero" labor $$ if I buy parts from his shop (seemed reasobable). His parts prices seem comparable to others.
