i have a tear in my seat also. i purchased one of the kits online to repair vinyl seat and will try to patch it. no way im going to purchase a factory seat as they want $1,400 for one. if this doesnt work ill take it into a upholstery repair shop in town,. I dont simply want to tape it

I would go to Lowes and buy a roll of Zip Tape for $26 and use that to cover the tear. It's water proof tape that is just about impossible to remove. Then you will still have most of the roll left, and it's the best tape that you will ever find!!!!

True that!!!

I heard of it from Eddie here a couple years ago. Used a lot of it on our new house build.

Curious what the cost of getting a shop to dress it new vinyl on would be? If it's pricey, you could maybe just tape it so it don't rip more, and find a seat cover that fits your seat.

I’ve had upholstery repaired in the past and it was never very expensive. Ive been looking for seat covers several times in the past to no avail. I did find a set to fit the Kawasaki mule though. Fit perfectly.

i have repaired several places in vinyl boat seats - i got a vinyl repair kit from somewheres online cant remember, basically you cut out the piece of material, test fit it up under the cut/hole for a backer to stick the torn/ripped/cut piece to as needed.

biggest thing i learned from it is wear rubber gloves, use popsickle sticks to work things around with, get out lumps, do it when its REALLY WARM, or if working inside put a heat lamp on the area to get things REALLY pliable.

Heavy objects like weights/bricks are great for adding pressure to an area to hold a crack together while product dries/cures

the stuff i used was gooey and u brushed it on to set up and it didnt take long took several coats

not like new but waterproof and stopped any further tearing - my wife gave the thumbs up so thats all that mattered!!!

Good replies. Thank you all. My seat is only $150 brand new aftermarket replacement so I am not going to get too crazy with it.

@grsthegreat $1400 for a seat is crazy! What OEM is that? I have had good luck with seatwarehouse for replacement seats on equipment. I just put a forklift seat on one of my mowers and seems to be decent material with suspension.

I have used Toro seat covers before with success. The only problem is when it is raining just that little bit. The water pools on the seat cover giving you a wet Arz.

Yup, me too, I bought a forklift seat off amazon for like $120, and it was that much only because I needed one with a seat-back that folds all the way down. Very comfortable seat.
