Can anyone compare the quality of Chippewa boots to Red Wing?

I have a pair of Chips now.. Has several over the years. They are very well built and worth the price. Mine are the ones with pre oiled leather and a black, Fairly hard black sole that has a 1" or so heel. On concrete all day..They let you know when to stop.. On dirt they are better for all day. Also have a couple pairs of Redwings, Both are Irish Setter style. One is the more expensive version.. $350.00 ish and the other is the 200.00 pair. .. The expensive ones take a while to break in..but are really well built and comfortable.. The less expensive pair would probable hold up for a year and a half if worn everyday.

Good Afternoon Jeephead ,
I resisted going to this type of boot because I didn't find the appearance appealing, but after I wore them for a week I was sold forever.
Those are some nice looking boots ! I have always been intrigued with that style sole ! I think I may have had something similar when I was a kid, but that’s so long ago I can’t remember for sure ! 😉😀

Good Afternoon,
I have always been a boot guy ! That being said I mostly own Chippewa boots now ! They are comfortable and seem to fit my feet the best ! Here is my most recent collection !

The loggers on the left get worn occasionally and all this talk of boots made me get them off the cellar stairs and give them a coat of mink oil ! The boots in the middle are daily work boots 8” and the boots on the right are my 6” dancing boots ! Probably don’t go dancing with them but my wife gets a kick out of my description of these !

After saying all that I would like to try a pair of wedge sole boots, as others on here have said they are really comfortable!

Good afternoon, Scott.

See I was a bit turned off by this style of sole. Several of my buddies has switched to this style and kept telling me how much more comfortable they were but I held out. Finally I decided to give them a try and they will be my daily boots from now on. The comfort is just that much better.

WOW talking about bringing something back from the dead! LOL this post is from almost 7 years ago!

I have wore boots every day my entire adulthood, either logger or pull-on western work boots. I recently switched to these boots and it's a night/day difference for comfort. This type of sole really supports the foot in a way no others do. I resisted going to this type of boot because I didn't find the appearance appealing, but after I wore them for a week I was sold forever.

I guess I’m the odd one out…

I really liked Chippewa but my last pair had a perfectly good sole separate…

I wear them when brush cutting hillsides which puts a lot of side angle force on the boots…
thank you so much for your suggestion

i definitely dont like wedge style soles if you walk in mud or other types of debris usually a gob gets stuck to the bottom center of the sole and its very annoying to walk on
