PineRidge,
If it is "still" bothering you that much /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif, why don't you go find something to do with your tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jerry you don't bother me at all. The gentleman asked if he could use a TC-40D to pull a corn planter and I responded. He didn't ask if you thought that it was alright that he spend the money.

I have a TC-40D also with many implements including a two row corn planter and I don't plant 40 acres either. I see no absolutely sense in owning a high priced tractor if you are going to poke holes in the ground with a stick to plant corn.

You could get by with much less Jerry, but do you think it's worthwhile?

Make any sense Jerry?
Happy Thanksgiving to you.

I want to thank everyone for their help and advice. Jerry, your comments have been noted and are appreciated. I will at the VERY least get a walk behind planter like the one referenced (I didn't know they even existed). Stick in the ground and hand planting?...well as they say time is money, and I don't have the time to screw around. Isn't it all about balance? Having a hobby, a few tools and accomplishing something? Sure I could have a farmer plant my corn, but what fun is that.

Laminarman,
It's nice to have more tools, except sometime they are more aggravating than they are worth unless they are needed for a large area. I just wanted to let you know the other side especially sometimes with used. Sometimes simpler is better. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

yea its not always the most practical way to do things but often most fun to use the tractor. heck last spring i plowed a half acre with a 4 bottom plow and a 105 hp tractor! why, well the plow was free and i already have the tractor, would our troy bilt rototiller have done the job? of course but it wouldnt have been as much fun!! and of course i also own a fullsized road grader to maintain our 500ft driveway and a few other roads, yes a 3pt blade works too but the grader works better and i only have about 150 bucks into it altogether. so if he can find a corn planter cheap why not go for it. like the other guy said why own an expensive tractor if ya are gona poke holes in the ground with a stick

Markct I have always said that there is no such a thing as having too much HP when it comes to doing any job. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
