Can I turn up the hydraulic pressure?

Can I turn up the Hydraulic pressure on my backhoe with out doing damage? I have never checked the pressure before but assume it is OK. I just want to get a little more out of it? Also, what would be the max pressure so I can check it, to see where it is? This would be on my 4720 with the nine foot hoe.

I am not familiar with your unit but could raise your RPM? Or try the relief valve

The hoe is the same as a DJ 48. I plan on putting a guage on it this week end to see where the pressure is at.

I checked my shop manual for the proper hydraulic pressure specification for my tractor. Then had it checked at the dealer... it was slightly below spec and they added a shim/spacer/washer in the pressure relief valve.... increased slightly over spec the pressure before the relief valve would open. Am speaking of a Kubota. I assume that there are similar relief valves on other makes as well and that they, too, are adjusted via some sort of shim device or adjustment.. It made a big difference in max pay load weight I can now pick up with FEL.
