OK guys, thanks for the input. I'm gonna skip it. Seems it'd be too much for my tractor, & I hoped to spend less than $2K ... Plus it's green!!! :confused2: ...

My dealer recommends either a "standard" (1" - 1.5" cut) Woods or Bush Hog (both $1,900) or a "heavier" (2" - 2.5" cut) Land Pride RCR2672 ($2,499).

If you have any thoughts on those, I'd appreciate you sharing them ...

rjkobbeman pretty much summed up my experience with the Land Pride RCR2672. I use it on my L5030 and have been very happy with it.

I use a Woods 121 10' 3-point and Woods DS1260 10'6" pull-behind on my larger tractors and as mentioned they can be hard to trim with, so the 6' really comes in handy and will cut anything the big ones will. I am very happy with it.

One of the mowers that we have had good luck with and wasn't metioned is the Bush Hog SQ 84T.

This is a twin spindle 7 foot with twin tail wheels and a small offset to the right. The twin tail wheels makes for a smooth ride on rough terrain or even for dead furrows and wood chuck holes. The power requirements are down on this unit do to the smaller blades and it doesn't require a lot of horsepower to power up. These mowers are as close to the rear of the tractors as a 42" bush hog would be so they don't affect the weight on the front as much.

I have several on tractors all the way down to the L-3400 that use them for mowing pasture. The customers like them because they can cut the ground speed down and still cover a good area.

Older models didn't have the front hitch reinforced as the new ones do as some would catch a fence post or tree and twist the frame some. Still doesn't mean you can't but a good warnign over it has been enough for most operators and the ones that bend it up yet, while you could look at the rest of the equipment!
