Can my tractor pull this plow?

Do you think it would be reasonable to ask my Kubota L2350 (25HP 4WD) to pull this plow or one like it?

My Dad used to pull a two bottom plow with a IH Super C gas tractor with no trouble. Can I expect similar performance from a CUT of similar HP?

I think you have similar HP, but not similar weight. And weight is critical when transferring HP to the ground. I think pulling that plow would be a bit ambitious.

I have a 24hp massey and I would say NO. Cutting through hard dirt is pretty tough on little tractors like ours

I'm pulling a 2 bottom 12" (i think) dearborne with my 1635, and even it bogs down when the suck is a bit too much or the ground is hard. And I have a 3500lb tractor with loaded tires and loader/bucket on front (so I guess close to 4700lbs all said?)

You won't be happy pulling that. Odds are pretty good that you will get stuck a lot. Remember that a bottom plow like that needs to be pulled pretty quick. A tractor struggling just won't cut it. The one Ken Sweet showed is more in line with your machines abilities.

I doubt whether you would have the traction for one thing and even if you got it to hook up that's a lot of drag. I really think you would do a lot better than the old tractors that those were made for though it wouldn't be a total waste by any stretch imo.

Reason I say is I have a old Ford 2 bottom (about like that one) that came with the 8n's etc and I have no idea how they were expected to pull it must have been perfect dirt is all I can say!

For example my 1951 Massey Harris 22hp (similar tractor to 8n) would pull it about half depth and the slightest thing would stall the tractor or try to flip it backwards.

My newer tractor has 45hp diesel and 4wd and lots of gears (old tractors problem not enough gears) it pulls it fine but I doubt I could go any bigger. hth

The plow in that Craigslist picture is not a John Deere plow. It appears to be a Ford 101 Series trip plow. Ken Sweet
