BX2660
So, I am waiting for the new BX2660 and I am already planning things that I want to tackle. I have about 13 pine tree stumps (pic attached) that are anywhere from 6" to 10" around.

Think there is a way the BX can get them out without a backhoe?

yes you will need two dig out two sides push on it few times use a axe on some of the roots and it will come out takes a little time but they come out. just did about ten this week with my 2660. better than renting stump grinder if you got the time. helps alot if you leave about five feet to push and pull on good luck.

Well, it could haul the shovel and grub hoe to the site for you and when you get them dug out, it might pull the stump for you with a chain.

That's the way it was done before backhoes. I got aching vertebrae from doing a bunch of these as a youngster.

If it were me. I'd dig around the base of the stump so that you can flush cut with chain saw. Fill the hole back in and just mow over it. In several years it will be rotten enough you may want to mess with digging it out. Just flush cut and forget. Even with back hoe stumps are a beech. Read where some guy uses tractor to pull cable under to cut roots. It works for him.

If you haven't already cut the rest of the stumps so low; leave them as high as possible - higher the better. Then you can apply a great deal of leverage with your loader.

:)Done that too and it works fine for me especially on those smaller 12-18 inch pine stumps. Either cut it off flush so you can mow over it....or leave it 3- 4 feet tall...Whence you mow around it and save the chore for another day. Sometimes they (ants/termites/water) rot off at the base and you just kick them over.

There are some back in the woods that I left 4ft high. The ones in my my front yard were cut almost flush 2 years ago with the intention of grinding them down. I just never got around to it and mow around them for now.

Now I am just trying to find things to do so I can get more seat time.

It is going to be an individual thing and yes you "can" do it, but "should you". I personally wouldn't want to tear my lawn up and as others have recommended, just flush cut it. I have done hundreds this way as it works better for me than digging them out.

Why not, just take your time..maybe free up stump little than ax roots or rent stump grinder..less of mess also quicker.
