It is on my list to visit a book store or library and check out that book before I decide to buy it. I read some bad reviews on it recently.

Easygo

When I bought them, I was looking for some more specifics on design, and they aren't there. But, there is a lot of info and examples on what not to do, and some pics of the results of doing it wrong. A good read, but not any solid "how it's made" info. At the time, I had bought them both from Northern via mail order, and didn't have a chance to preview.

Still can't get easier IMO than going to a trailer place and copying a generic 5 or 6x12 trailer. Axle location is key, maybe the tongue lenght, and how they turned the angle to weld it together.

Maybe if you were building a speciality trailer for a odd load like a jon boat or something. There is not much new in trailer building technology that you can see already on the road.

when i am on a trade fair, i allways get the attention of the salesmen by crawling under their trailers and study it. If i stay watching to the UNDERside for longer than 2 minutes, they can tell i'm NOT a customer.... :D

Renze: Thank you for the offer on helping out. I will draw up a blue print and will send you a file if that is all right. I will convert the measurements into metric I like working with that anyway.

I can do a calculation for you, got this nice program. Its from 1991 and simple as a can of beans, but it does the job and modeling a construction is much quicker than modern 3d stuff ;)

hehe, I can honestly say I have slipped the camera or cell phone out a time or 2 to take a picture of something to make or copy.

But in the case of my small trailer, I asked the guys inside and they said help yourself! Of course a week earlier when I was "shopping" for the size I wanted to build, I sort of stepped off some rough measurements!! :D

In hindsight...the 5x12 was nice but I should have gone with the 6'8"x12 or 14. But at the time I only had 1 atv and 1 riding mower. The width is nice. The new trailer can carry 4 average size ATV's. :D
