How in the world does Facebook survive when everyone puts their home town on it. Not many mass killings from Facebook users because of it.

I find it at least a little interesting when I know at least which state a guy is from. Many TBN users are paranoid.
This is what puzzles me. Folks are concerned about their privacy here.

The government has satellites that can read your license plates from 100 miles away. Many modern cars continually broadcast their location back to the manufacturer. Your cell phone is tracking your movements (and stops) as well, in some cases even when turned off. The NSA put trap doors in most of the network equipment you use. They collect the metadata on ALL your phone calls. The Patriot Act passed after 911 gives law enforcement Sneak and Peek warrant authority.

So the government is tracking you in half a dozen ways. Yet some people here are worried about the loss of privacy that posting a vague home reference will cause.

I have news for you: without even accessing the data traffic that got you here, you can read a dozen of your posts and figure out where they live anyway. So to my mind, you are just being rude.

Sorry, I still don't get the reason someone would not indicate, even what State they were in. Like I said, it's just interesting, helps in "some" discussions and could hardly be a threat to ones privacy. Should it be mandatory, no, of course not.

And HECK! The Government can "supposedly" turn on your phone mic and camera any time they please!

If my location or location of others is necessary to answer a specific question or for specific information, we can always include our location in the comment section.

And if it's not there some of us will ignore the post.

Asking ones location a member is trying to help in one way or another isn't a big deal, it isn't offensive and doesn't cause discord as the OP states, if you don't want to include you're location and then give it when asked because someone is helping you, news flash, you're location is here forever..

Paranoia is the only explanation. Maybe it gives people a secure felling when they feel like causing trouble..

personally after I've posted my opinion on a topic I just lurk and don't make more rhetorical posts...but in this instance I have to ask..
What difference does it make?...Tell me how knowing someones location improves a solution to a problem...

My beef with the subject is (again)...members who tell new comers that including their location will be beneficial to them and they will get better responses is pure BULL **** and those that do so are full of it...

Bhahhhahahahhaa good one eddie!

I originally had my location posted in my profile. Then I got tired of one individual hounding others who didn't. Sometimes without even adding anything pertinent to the O.P. inquiry. That's when I edited my profile and removed my location. Just for the h--- of it.

If my location or location of others is necessary to answer a specific question or for specific information, we can always include our location in the comment section.

Location is optional. We here are all allowed to choose. ;)

I expect they would simply come up with a different way to be obnoxious. The ignore list works for me.

LMAO...! who cares?...usually amateur responses anyway...just because someone has done something once or twice or labored in a field does not make them an expert by any stretch...

Once and for all?

If someone does not choose to post their location for any reason at all, that should be that. NO ONE should be allowed to repeatedly and continuously hound others about posting their location. Whether or not some feel that information may be somehow valuable in forming their replies does not matter at all. If it isn't there and a poster doesn't feel they can answer in a way they feel necessary, they don't need to reply.

The obsession some have is getting offensive and is causing unnecessary discord and distraction in too many threads.

Request a policy change prohibiting members from asking such personal questions.
Want a policy change? Change yours. Skip over the posts that request it. Put the poster who " makes you feel bad" on your ignore list. Are you now the mayor of TBN?...
