How long have you owned this place ?
Has it ever fooded like this before during the time you have owned it .?

Been here since 1979. Used to live in the house in the bottoms that is where my youngest son lives(d) then when the lady that had this house( built in 1963) passed I bought this place and moved in in 1995. In 05 the house in the bottoms got water in it up to the screw of the wall receptable plates. This was due to Katrina. This house had never been wet.

It's great to see you back on line.I know it was at the bottom of your list of things to do.
Hope things are getting as close to normal as possible.
Best of luck to you and family.

welcome back
thanks for the post
amazing how when immediate necessity presents, energy flows and priorities become easy to set.
Glad you had the tools to help with both immediate problem and assist in all recovery efforts.
Best wishes for your continued recovery, and we'll hope it doesn't happen again...

Man it must have been a stressful time. I can relate to what its like. Flash floods are common in WV and sometimes deadly. Its funny how fast a toy can become a tool. I try to take care of my equipment but in times of disaster it all falls in its proper place. The tractor had great value to you that day. The right tool at the right time in the right hands brought the right results. I have to think that you were in good hands that day, making it out with no loss of life. You were blessed to all have made it safely out.

Wow the last flood that got your house must have burried your sons house under several feet of water /.

Thanks Steve, can not burn much daylight on line but after the sun goes down the work is just too difficult, with this rain we are living in a mud hole. You would not recognize that shiny, pretty red tractor you dilivered. I will get her cleaned up one day but I have put over 100 ours on her since Sept. Even with the 4wd I have buried her a couple or more times, if not for the loader to claw my way out, well this was the best money I have ever spent.

Thanks texasjohn, if it happens again we willl walk away and leave. Ten years ago this would have been an adventure but at this time it is just an opportunity, I would say a challange but there is a mindset difference and I am a postive person. I was going to retire this April, but until I can get both houses standing and finished I just can not walk away from a very good paying job. Stilll working I can absorb any loss that I need to, retired I would worry.

You are completely correct, I did nothing by myself, if you know the "Footprints" writing, I was carried. I guess there was some stress but what sticks in my mind was the utter disbelief this was happening. When the water broke over the road, about 500' away the roar of the water was astounding. There was only the realitive quite of the day and the next moment one would think you were standing beside a waterfall, you could see the water rise. I was told for a time it rose 18" every 45 minutes. I too am a big PM person, grease, oil and fluids are way cheaper than the consequences. Saw on the news up north there was some flooding hope you are not in the way.

Vertical measurement from the peak of his roof to the water was 18" there about. Do not mean to repeat my self so if I have posted this before, sorry. We got up to our ceiling fans but the house (brick) stayed stable, his house shifted on the foundation about 6". Next door neighbor's house floated 30' and turned 90 degrees. We are up on a hill and the man that built this house either by design or plain dumb luck had it situated to where it was surrounded by water before the house took any real damage. I think it was dumb luck.

This story should provide excellent testimony to this make of tractors ability
to perform above and beyond the call of duty, Instead of the Bronzing give it a metal of Honor,;)
My wife always says to me when I buy something all beaten up looking car/truck tractor or machinery, " why bother to fix them up when your just going to beat-um-up again! " and she's right! I usually do! I'll rebuild and clean up re-paint as like new again, then I'll use it scratch it bang it up, then after using it for a few years this way ( beat Up ) I'll then decide to re-sale it, and clean and re-paint it all over again, :D the Only New looking thing I have is during the first couple days of use of it...
