I bought a Generac 3000psi from Lowes back in 2001. It has a Honda 9hp engine. I have never had any problems with it and I use it extensively to clean just about everything outside that gets dirty. You can dial down the psi so not to remove paint, etc. My neighbors have used it, it has several, several hours on it...still running like the day I got it.

Go with the Honda engine...

I bought a 110v electric Stihl pressure washer 10years back that's been perfect for my application needs. I always have juice near the water supply anyways even if it means hooking up the pto generator and a water trough in the front bucket. I even spray my trees with it. Small, compact, long hose, dial down spray head and pressure. Its easy to blast the mower decks, oil sludge, driveway, siding and even the horses like the mist at 20 feet range. Best feature for me was "Not another gas motor to maintain".

I've also got a small 110v electric Karcher that has been totally trouble-free and served me well for about 5 years now. Granted, it is not suitable for BIG jobs, but I find that it is perfect for 95% of things. Was only about $130 I think.

kudos for the karcher electric! mines 2300 psi and i blast the mud off everything i own with it. 150$ at lowes. you can't find a honda powered 2300psi for twice that much! comes with two tips, but the one that i always use is the "dirtblaster". it spins around and puts out a circular pattern instead of flat.

I bought an Excel XR2600 pressure washer about 3 yrs ago at Lowes and it's been a pretty good little unit for me. Got it on sale for around $350.00
It makes 2600 PSI @ 2.5 gals per minute. Has the 5hp non-commercial Honda engine and the Devilbis pump. For a non-commercial unit it's done pretty good.

I also bought one of those telescoping wands that'll extend out to 16' for another $60 from Northern. The two make easy work of cleaning my vinyl siding every spring.

Are there pressure washers available that can run with minimal water supply pressure? I would like to get one but my water source will be a 350 gallon water supply tank and my only pressure is the gravity discharge pressure. Is there a brand I can look at?
Thanks

I am needing to get a decent pressure washer for use at the farm. I am running off of a well so the water pressure feeding it won't be the best. For general washing of dirt/mud off of implements and cleaning out dozer tracks what would be a decent washer. I'm not really wanting to invest a whole lot on one because it probably won't be used but maybe 2x's a month but at the same time I would like for it tobe of decent quality and long lasting. I would like to start cleaning up my implements a little more regular than now. thanks.

I bought the Troy built from Lowes, Honda motor 2500# pressure. Works great and I also have a well. I think it is 2.5 to 3 gallons per min. I have not had a problem running it off the well but I do run it for about 10-15 seconds then let of for about 5 seconds so not to strain the well pump. May not make a difference but better safe than sorry.:)

I'm on my second gas powered pressure washer. Both Excel, both Honda engines. The failure of the first pump unit was my fault because I let water freeze inside and it was destroyed. The Honda engine from that washer though lives on in a leaf vacuum I built- big fan of honda engines. Very easy to start and durable.

The gas washers are so **** loud though I always wear hearing (and eye of course) protection. Would consider an electric unit for this reason.

Also will recommend this hose reel which makes the washer much easier to set up and put away. Solid aluminum and built quite well. I have three of them around my property.

Good luck.

I run on a well also, with a troybuilt 2450 psi, 2.5gpm. $369 at lowes, 5hp honda. I can run it all day without starving for water. I don't believe I could go much larger without have a tank to prefill,
we rarely run it with the most agressive tip to get the 2450 out of it, mostly the one below that.
I strip and re-stain my deck with it every other year
It has done a good job for us washing whatever,
we have an extention wand also, mostly the knock the wasp nest off the soffets up high, in the summer.
that is the only time I use the max pressure tip
