Gehl Skid Steer 4625
I purchased this 3pt rotary cutter to convert to hydraulic drive for my skid steer. I have to replace the lower oil seal, but the bolt to remove the cutter bar is frozen. I'd like to check with the manufacturer or confirm that the bolt is not reversed thread before I get more aggressive, but there are no identifying marks on the old relic. I thought it was a Howse, but I sent them pic's and they say it's not. Their cutter bar is retained with a castle nut, not a bolt.

Can anyone help me out?

Many thanks!

I'm not positive but the gear box style looks like a woods mower. There is a thread going on now in the parts and repair section thats labeled " left or right hand threads "may give you the answer.

The gearbox and deck design look woods to me. No idea what model though. Does it have a tag hidden somewhere?

It's a run hard and put away wet Woods with the back blade bolt cover missing. least it's not rusted through. Thats a plus.

That looks a lot like a old Woods Billy Goat bush hog. I say that based on the gear box and the hitch top link float. There would have been steel bars with a linkage connecting the top link part of the 3 point to the back of the gearbox mounts.
From around here that would be a fine bush hog, good luck with getting it on your skid steer.

I recently replaced a lower seal on my Woods twin cutter and it looks very similar to your gearbox/ cutter bar set-up. Mine was a standard bolt, and it was very tight.

It is certainly time...or past time, for a new set of skids.

FWIW take good care of that gearbox and it will last. It has heavy tapered roller bearings and the thing cost over $1000 just for the gearbox. My neighbor's run dry and ruined the bottom of the housing. I was online pricing parts to help fix his and Wow what sticker shock. You can find any parts for the Wood's mowers and they are expensive for a reason they are quality built.

Thank you. No tag, but the consensus seems to be Woods.

Thank you ALL for your quick replies. I have sent the pics and my question about the bolt threads off to Woods. Appreciate everyone's information and advice!
