Yes there is a dry clutch in Front of the trans... I have disconnected the linkage to my "dry clutch"... I have a cab on my
L4200 GST... The clutch pedal is just in the way, I never use it, so with the linkage off I can lock it to the floor out of the way. The dry clutch will wear a little Every time you use it & will eventually need to be adjusted. The wet clutches are always submerged in oil, less heating & wear....
If your Dry clutch is slipping Check the adjustment for the proper free play.
The temperature of the trans will be about 100 degrees above ambient, so at 85 air temp your fluid will be around 185 degrees... too hot to touch. That is normal and will not cause any slippage ...
My
L4200 GST has an independent PTO it is Not driven with the dry clutch, has it's own wet pack clutch, if the pto clutch pack is slipping check the engagement cable, see that it is allowing the clutch valve full operation. KennyV
