Mahindra 2638
Tried everything to get it out of high range. Have had the tractor for 6 years. Always been hard to change from LMH but now is in H and can't change to medium or low. Thanks, if any knows the problem.

I have a 2538 (same thing). Get on level ground and out of 4wd. Barely hit the fwd pedal and let off while jiggling the shift lever. Its stupid but works.

Might have to rinse and repeat several times, but it will work eventually.

Check the linkage joint under the seat deck. One time I discovered the nut was loose and it was "somewhat" easier to shift after I tighten it.

I jacked the tractor off the ground where all the wheels would spin. Loosened up the bolt that holds the
HMNL lever. Got a pry bar and got it out of H. Oiled everything. Got it all working better than ever. Still don't know why it was frozen up to start with but now it works. Thanks all.

It is common for the shift shafts that enter the case to rust up. A quick spritz once a year with your favorite penetrating lube will keep it working smoothly.
