Can't get a hose to come off

When I use to work on snow groomers we always hit the fitting with a hammer a few times on as many sides as you can, it will come lose. If you can't get a hammer in there put a steel rod on the nut then hit it.

Hose come off yet? Despite all of the good ideas for removing it I'll throw in a trick that works sometimes. It's almost like making a crow's foot wrench from a combination wrench. Take a torch and bend the wrench handle into a 90deg just behind the open end. You can reach in with the open end and put a bar through the closed end for more leverage. Works in a pinch if you're "stuck" with a torch handy. Might work in combination with some of the other tricks mentioned, but buying a crow's foot is better if you're close to a tool shop.

I have a 3/4" hose in a tight spot. It is hard to get anything more than a normal wrench on it. It sources from an aluminum block, into a fitting that has an o-ring The fitting then connects to the hose, the hose has a JIC to make it all happen.

Well the hose won't break free. I have tried nothing more than manual labor.

Anyone have any tricks? I was pondering hitting it with a smalll torch but the o ring, oil and the fact I do not want to ruin this hose are all playing into my angst.

thanks in advance.

Hey everyone... I again want to thank you all for all your help.

First, I did get the hose off. It took undoing all the other hoses and getting a bigger (much) socket handle. Using a crows foot and an extender it came off fairly easy. So, yes, take your time, take everything around the spot off. No, not an easy fix but one I got done with all of your advice. I have to say I did not realize how much leverage and extra 12" on a handle would be but it came off pretty easy with that amount of leverage.

But here is where it gets interesting. On the other end of the hose is a quick connect. I wanted to salvage it. Well, it refused to come off and I broke a wrench. I then said heck with it, whipped out my sawsall and cut the hose and took it to my local machine shop where they said they would undo it for free.

Long story is that they could not remove the connector. It actually turned into a project for them (you know how machinists are, gotta figure it out no matter what). The difficulty was not crushing the connector, or heating it and melting the innards.

So, I now have to replace my disconnects but that is OK. Not a huge issue.
