Buckie, I learned how to run my loader bucket right here on TBN. I have run loaders for many years and didn't know how to keep the bucket level until getting involved here. The top edge of your bucket is parallel with the bottom of the bucket. You can see the top corners of your bucket from the tractor seat pretty easily. Hope this helps, it helped me. Buckie,

Got to this post a little late, but it seems like the other posters have got you up and running. My only .02 is that I find it helpful to manuever the stands that lock into the tractor frame into place using the front/rear hydro and the joystick. If everything is in place the pins just pop in.

Just a sidelight, what are you using your loader for? And, what kind of ballasting did this dealer provide? I ask this because the 2210 with a heavy load and especially in less than level conditions can be very tippy. I had the rear tires loaded with RimGuard and find for light loader work this is fine. But for the really heavy stuff, I use the ballast box which is filled with concrete.

Remember, use your seatbelt.

good morning. The more I read on this web site, the more I learn. Spent several hours again late yesterday evening just practicing with the
FEL, and, yes, I can see the corners of the top of the bucket when it is all the way down, so that helps with the leveling. I did mark the rod, too, but still think it is a bit unreliable.
I am using the tractor and attachments (FEL, belly mower and rear scraper blade(which has not yet been delivered) to maintain my ten acre home site. Typical mowing, pushing/moving top soil, spreading/leveling gravel on driveway, pushing back light brush and debris on the edge of my woods. The place is mostly level with one or two pretty good slopes.......which I will totally avoid. Am being overly cautious with the tractor until I have many more hours of experience, and, until I feel far more comfortable. Right now my main goal is learning the machine and being safe.
As to ballast, the dealer told me that none was necessary for what I intend to do.......though I have now decided that I am going to get a ballast box. The tractor has the quick Imatch hitch. I think loading up the FEL with heavy material, and raising it up without rear ballast is a potential problem. So, until I put ballast on the rear (or have some weight added to the tires), I am being VERY careful to avoid doing something that I think might cause a tipping problem. I think I may have made a mistake, too, on the tire choice. The tractor has the slicker "turf" tires because I thought the more aggressive tread would destroy the grass I have worked so hard to get to grow. There is an obvious loss of traction. I may consider getting an alternative set of tires. Since I live in the country on land that is partially cleared and partially natural woods (with pines and hard woods), having a city manicured lawn is not an issue.

Just to throw my 2 cents in. I don't have problems reattaching loaders, I just never take them off.. lol No Kidding on my 2120 since 1987 I have never removed the loader. The dealer has a few times for service, but I never have. On my latest TN, I also have never pulled the loader. I may some day. Now don't get me wrong, I have pulled and installed loaders, but I have enough excitment just putting backhoes and heavy Cat I & II 3pt hitch stuff on and off. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

And Buckie, I'm glad to see you have your problem resolved.. I've had plenty of those "close fit" problems over the years and they are a pain...

The dealer was wrong based on what you've said so far. If you are using your FEL to lift and carry almost anything, you need some ballast. You can use the blade you're getting for that, though it might be a bit cumbersome.

I thought a prerequisitefor even selling the 2210 with a loader was that it either had to have a Ballast box included or loaded tires. Seems my dealer said they had to do one or the other because of the liablity issues.

I have turfs, and only once in really muddy conditions, did I wish I had R-1's or R-4's. I would cross that bridge if and when you come to it. Also double check your invoice, the dealer may have charged you for the ballast box already. If not, I was charged $157 for mine. You know, that's a good point. I think the loader on the 2210 comes with a ballast box. I don't hink you can buy a 210 loader without a ballast box. Perhaps someone else who knows for sure can chime in on that.

Good afternoon. The ballast box is sold seperately from the 210 FEL. Some dealers may include the box in the quote price of the loader, but it is sold seperately. I do not have a ballast box or loaded tires. When I get into heavy dirt moving, I slip the tiller on the back. That way if the dirt is too hard I can loosen it up with the tiller and the tiller seems to be enough ballast. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
