Congrats on the box blade Murph. You got a deal. I was kicking around the idea of going and getting it if you didn't.

Well here it is. It needs rebuilding. Any thoughts?

Nice find Murph! If it were mine I'd take some more detail pics from different angles for reassembly and then remove the cutting edges and take it to a sandblaster shop and blast the crud off and then rustproof primer and several top coats of bulletproof topcoat. I'd also beat/heat the bent parts straight, etc. You'll have a really nice blade when you're finished with it. Show us the process with pics, please!:)

I would make it QH compatible first. Disassemble it as much as you can then got to cleaning it up. I would probably use a angle grinder and a couple of wire wheels to clean it up. This stuff works good on rust and is available at any autobody store. SEM Products :: Rust-Mort

It should be QH compatible. Is this stuff brush on?

I like it just the way you found it. Everything looks straight and true. Why not mount it on the Kioti and put her to work as is?

To be fair though, I'd at least get her teeth fixed before posting any more pics of her on the internet.

I agree. Other than being a bit "snaggle-toothed" from the missing rippers, I think it looks good and worth more than you paid for it.

The used Gannon I bought recently only has slightly less "character" than yours and I'm using it just like I found it.

Hey all, I would like to convert this blade to Hydraulic. Any idea's?

/ Can't Lift #38
you might be able to remove the extra smaller linkages and go straight to a hyd cylinder, for a more robust design,
but hard to tell from pictures, how the smaller linkages, allow for the rippers to move up and down.
or...
go from the back side of the box (top edge of it, to the manual handle (drill hole in top of the handle) to place a hyd cylinder.
but you may end up twisting linkages / bending linkages going this way to raise / lower the rippers.

=============
use it and abuse it, forget the paint i say, looks like a good piece of equipment, after some good usage, rust will go away from were ever dirt / gravel comes up on cutting blade and lower parts of the unit.

i am wondering if only 4 rippers are on it, is due to over all weight, and compaction / hardness the dirt / driveway, original owner was using it for.

doesn't look like a easy place to add extra weight to the box blade. so some rippers were removed.

Murph, my Gannon is different enough from your Land Pride that it may not help, but tomorrow when I go to the farm where my Gannon is I'll take some pics to show you how the hydraulic cylinder is attached and operates. Hopefully, it might give you some ideas.
