Ok, another frustrating thing has occurred now with this BX2380. I cannot get the adjustment knob for the MMM into top position, it stops 1 click short and won't budge. I bumped the deck lever up/down and tried it again with no luck. It was working before, I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and had a solution. Hotter than Hades here, so not pulling deck off for a few days. Normally it wouldn't bother me, but I would like to use 3 point hitch without worrying about MMM linkages hanging or getting caught on something....

Similar issues come up on many threads. I assume you know that the hydraulic lift has to be all the way up to take the load off the adjustment apparatus so you can adjust it. The mechanism itself is kind of flaky in my opinion. I have almost always been able to "get it loose" on my own but once had to take it to a shop. They put it up in the air on a lift and played around with the linkage and unjammed the problem with no real explanation. Also, most of the Kubota MMM have a linkage pin where you can fasten the deck full-up and let it ignore the hydraulic 3pt hitch position. Pretty sure that both my B2150s and my BX2200 do.

Bob,
common issue with a simple fix!! Take a breath!

in front of the Left rear tire is the adjustment for that knob, I’m doing this from memory so bear with me: Noodle around with the knob while looking at the left rear tire, you’ll see the linkage that adjusts that knob, as I recall I had to move the nut just a 1/2 turn to get the deck to sit at “Top”

give it a try, if you can’t figure it out, PM me and I’ll take pics!

Cheers,
BN

Probably your suggestions will lead to solving the OPs problem. However, he said "it was working before" which seems to say it was not just a nut having turned on it's own. Even so maybe he can "adjust his way out of the issue" doing what you describe.

My old BX1850 had the lift linkage on leftside that used to required minor adjustment to get deck to lift fully. Had the tractor 2 or three years and had to adjust at least once every year. I also removed and installed deck several times a year. I do not recall the adjustment procedure though.

What JWR said about hydraulic 3 pt lift all the way up so the knob will turn. And I agree that the "Cam" that is involved is kinda funky..on my BX2660(sold) and now my B2620.

Cheers,
Mike

Yep, lift was all the way up. Also lowered and raised a couple times to see if there was a sweet spot. After I mow next time I’ll yank deck off and see if I have that adjustment nut. Seems odd that it worked before and now it doesn’t- only 62 hrs on it….

Bob!!!

no need to remove the deck!!!

let me see if I can grab a pic of the nut that you need to adjust! You can do it all from kneeling behind the tractor!

sit back, relax, TBN got you!!

I was wondering if you were talking about that one, as that's the only one thats accessible on that side. I'll let ya know if it works....

While you are looking at things back there, check the 3 point lift arm on that side for cracks. My arm started cracking, which caused it to sag, which caused me to make the "top" adjustment. After the third adjustment I noticed the cracked arm. I replaced it and all is good now.

I don't think there is a design defect, I leave my mower deck on most of the time and locked up a good portion of that. I think that 200lbs of deck bouncing on the arm caused it.

Unfortunately, adjusting that nut either way resulted in no change. I ended up taking deck off and trying to figure it out. I ended up grinding the bottom of spiral cam flat, and ground down the edge of that nub that’s on side near bottom of spiral cam. I believe it’s supposed to go into that notch that’s on that linkage, and it doesn’t. I got it to go into “top”position when deck was off, but when deck was back on it was difficult again to try and get into “top”position. I need to get some more grinding stones for the dremel, I’m gonna grind more off that nub…

I Agree. The kubota Engineers have designed this to work as machined, no need to
F to F ( File to Fit)

I disagree. This is one of the poorest examples of design I know of relating to a Kubota. For the most part they are great machines.

I say be cautious what you modify but the Kubota Engineers have designed a piece of crap for deck level adjustment. It has been a common nuisance to large numbers of users and if you can do something to make it work better -- more power to ya !!

Why? It still works, pics are of 2 areas I ground down some. This tractor has been a headache since I bought the damn thing at end of December. Never had this problem on the 1870. Why would I be able to put it in Top position earlier this year, now it won't? Put another hour on it idling and fiddling with this. Tired of dragging it back to dealer for work, which has been twice so far. Maybe a new cam will solve problem, who knows??? I shouldn't have to wiggle deck to get something to move...

I gotta agree with you dieselbob.....I claim no expertise in just about anything. But I do fiddle around based on my observations. So far I get things fixed without a trip to the dealer. My B2620 (2012) is 10 YO with over 800 hrs, mostly mowing. A new CAM fixed my issue....seems like IIRC it was about $30 backin 2017. I can appreciate your frustration......

Cheers,
Mike

If it helps...

I had to get it in my head that "Top" did not mean top - it is the position that is doubled, as for carrying the deck while out-of-service - better named 'Stop".
Mine also worked best about 15 degrees out of wack - 'Top' turned just a bit from say dead 6:00 (as hour hand) to say 5:45.
Often CCW vs CW (or opposite...) will work.
I could find nothing wrong with design, just operator!
