It is morning coffee break time here, and I wanted to say thank you all for restoring my faith in my fellow men, I felt much better for reading the posts - but then I thought, does that mean I am losing my COM status, then I eventually realised that since all posts were by fellow COMs and not any from people we are cantankerous about, it is right and proper to say thank you all.

hey ... use it or lose it ... ( but all you have to do is get in a bad mood and you've joined again ):dance1:

even Gandhi had his bad days ... ( and became a member ) so I'm in good company ...

every major person in history had COM / COW moments ... but like anything , the more you practice, the better you get at it ...

On another forum in another country, I was asked why I was so cantankerous. The following is part of my reply, the remainder of it being pertinent to the particular thread.

Quote:- "I do not know why I am a member of COMA (Cantankerous Old Men's Association) but I am. There have always been huge numbers of us and perhaps it is simply part of the ageing process. I cannot think of anyone I have ever known who is/was not a Member. There are a few other members who post on this forum. Some are deniers of course, but ask their relatives. You must ask whilst the COM is still alive, because death (the only escape from COMA) transforms COMs into loveable old people that nobody criticises.

If we ever formed a more formal Association we would be unstoppable, but part of the problem with COMA is that COMs being COMs we are cantankerous with each other so cannot possibly reach a consensus on what to do.

There are a lesser number of CY(oung)Ms, but CYMs tend to die, often from heart attacks, in their 40s or early 50s I have known quite a lot, and so they never become COMs. Best to stay calm until you reach the appropriate age to become a COM. I noticed the first symptoms about 10 years ago, aged 60, when, instead of humouring or ignoring people, I began to tell them what I really thought. A few other people I know exhibited these symptoms first too. After that it is easy to become a fully-fledged COM and a member of the Association."

Are there any fellow COMs on TBN?

My wife says I'M THE PRESIDENT of COMA ! ! !:2cents::smiley_aafz: And don't you forget it either ! ! !:grumpy::grumpy::yell: Personally, I think I'm the grumpiest old f@^* in the country. IMHO

Haven't read the whole thread.... but excuse me, I'm being cantankerous.

My older brother used to respond to someone saying "Have a nice day." with "Don't tell me what to do." He was a member of COMA.

It's not so much being cantankerous, as there are so many that annoy me!!

:grumpy:

I used to be amused by my father-in-law always complaining about "those clowns cluttering up my road"!

Except now I find myself thinking that every time I get on the road.

I can see the future, and COMA is in it!

Apparently, you're not familiar with the COMA auxiliary club-Cranky Old Broad Association.
