We had a tiny Dodge dealership here once. They had a pride and joy (Maybe Prowler) sitting on a ramp for all to see. One morning it was sitting on blocks.

I will never forget the guy that stole guardrails off the highway for scrap. He must have thought he had it made for a while.

I should have kept my mouth shut! Important Doctors appointment an hour and a half away. Used knob to shut 4WD off upon leaving property. Realized forty minutes later, that it was still in 4WD and won't come out. Lights on knob don't even flash when switching. DIC says "Service 4WD" Turned around and came home!

You must not drive many rocky dirt roads. Love TPMS, I've retrofitted my older vehicles with them. Used to be by the time I knew I had a flat it was too late - tire destroyed. Had two flats just recently - the TPMS alerted me while the tires still had plenty of air in them and both were able to be repaired no problem.

I was born, raised, and learned to drive in a small town in the mountains of Co. so have had plenty of experience on rough, rocky, dirt roads. In those days the closest most of us ever came to new tires was recaps, so plenty of experience changing tires.

I think TPMS,capless tanks, all the alarms and alerts would be fine as options but should not be forced on anyone buying a new car.Of course I also think that an IQ test would be great before getting a drivers license or buying a vehicle. I believe it was Henry Ford who said not to worry about automobiles putting buggies and carriages out of businesses not 1 person in 100 would be able to learn to drive them. He was right about the number learning to drive and it's still true 100 years later.

I quoted that a while back but didn't realize it was FORD who said it. I think he was being too kind in his estimation.

TPS has given be enough grief, but it can be valuable. Is the trade off worth it? Not sure.

When my Mom's TPS alerts, she just gets all confused, and goes to the service station where some IDIOT put 50 pounds of air in her Malibu tires!

It hasn’t helped me at all but has been successfull at being an annoyance, raising the cost of my vehicles and costing me money to repair because it won’t shut up!
I have figured out how to disable most of them on our cars and trucks now.

I also think 1 in 100 is generous. One ride down the highway today and I would have to say it’s more like 1 in 10,000!

Would have been nice to just grab the vice grip, shift it and go?

Think, maybe it turned out to be just a dirty connecton on the actuator, unless it's just freaking with me, which is highly probable.

Probably it's just freaking with you. If you go to the garage chances are they'll say one of two things. Either "We couldn't find anything wrong with it" or "I ain't never seen one break like that before."
