I am still curious how we are over 6K apart. I went to Kelly Blue Book. Did you, or did your expereince just tell you, you are right?
The problem, these days is everyone's feeling is involved. Used to be a way to do things, and things got done. Now a guy winds up on Barbara Walters or the witness stand.
N.A.D.A. but as LD stated, as of now it does not matter what the value of the car is nor how justified the buyer or seller was in entertaining that figure except for one thing: If the dealership felt they made enough of money on the deal as I suspect, they could have at least offered to repair the problem. It is simply human nature that if you made an 8K profit as opposed to a $400 one, you'd be more prone to lend a hand. Car dealerships seemed to have learned that whenever they lend a hand, they will be inundated with people's complaints about silly things and thus they draw a hard line right off the bat. Even this can be worked out. After I quit logging, I sold cars and trucks for 19 years at a Chrysler dealership. It was a bit less dangerous.
Everything I see from NADA (which btw is used at most dealerships) relates they made some big money on this vehicle. They should have been more accommodating to Ld's cousin as a result.
I have no clue what you are trying to say about "feelings" or Barbara Walters.
