Tractor
kioti lb1914 4wd
 My kioti lb1914 tractor will not start on it's own, so I use chock and carb cleaner/starter. Is this a bad thing? I have tried everything else but nothing will start it except!

Yes, its a issue. That is to new of a tractor to not start. Get the dealer to figure out what is wrong.

You can do real damage to a diesel using any starting aid.

The more you use any starting aid on a diesel, the more it needs. In a weird way, it gets addicted to it. Carb and choke cleaner as well as ether change the combustion chamber pressures and can really mess things up, as well as dry out the cylinder walls, leading to rapid engine wear. Have a mechanic check things out to see why it's not starting.

I thought so, thanks. Could I use a glow plug starter kit to help it along? You have been a bif help. Also when my tractor bogs down on me after running for a while it kills my battery completely most of the time? Any thoughts... Thank you once again!

? I'm not familar with your particular tractor, but doesn't your tractor have glow plugs already?

If your battery dies, could be your charging system is not working correctly or your battery is shot.

Sounds to me like you have quite a few issues.

My guess with the tractor bogging down is fuel. My guess is you have a dirty fuel system and its starving for fuel. Drain the fuel tank, put in fresh diesel fuel, and change out the filters. This may fix the starting issue also.

Your electrical issues can be a number of things. It may be time to just spend some money and get it to the dealers.

In cooler weather a diesel is harder to start.

A diesel needs a good strong battery & god starter to spin the engine quickly. A slow or sluggish starter/battery means the engine doesn't spin fast enough to fire up.

I suspect your problems are related. If you have battery issues, your tractor is not spinning fast enough to start.

Get the battery. charging issue fixed. Bet it will start fine then.

I have new fuel and put some diesel cleaner in the tank and she does run better I made up for more time and power! We don't have a dealer near us, but I do have a trailer and we can take it to a person that works on them! Thanks so much for your time and info!:)

If your battery is going dead there is something wrong with either the alternator or charging circuit. Start by checking the fuses. Next charge your battery with a battery charger. Take your volt meter and check the voltage after charged. A good battery should be 12.5V or better. Now start the tractor and check the battery with it running. You should see 14V or so with it running if the alternator or charging circuit is good.
