THERE is NO CHOKE on a deisel. I guess you missed that when D Piolet said that. You should not have to use anything to start your tractor esp on that new. Myabe if it was like minus 20F or something it may be acceptable if you HAD to get it started.

I still think you have a problem. My 30+ yr old yanmar with an unkown history will start after say the second attempt with no glow plugs or the thermostart system on it down to freezing temps.

As to the WD40 thing i read on here that that was true of the old formula but the new one was changed due to "huffers" and it is not as good to use as a deisel starting agent.

Moving right along, she will start with no starting agent! Tractor has more power now and never bogs down. The man that owned it before me just about screed it up. Never changed the oil or fuel filter ext. Took care of all that. Thanks and have a nice day!

Had not heard about the huffer part...I still use wd40 ....I saw a MF loader 3cylinder that blew 2 holes in pistons and bent a rod on Starter fluid and Glowplug cranking...Glad i was not standing there then?? Guy was Dufus doing that to it.

Kio,

Do you know how to pre-heat the glow plugs on this tractor?

On my Massey Ferguson, you turn the ignition switch in the opposite direction of start (counter-clockwise) and hold it there for 20-60 seconds (depending on how cold it is), then you turn the ignition switch clockwise to start.

I think you may have been misreading what he was typing. When he said it didn't need the choke I think he meant it didn't need the carb and choke cleaner. At least that's the way I read it.

Did you fix your battery problem? I have a feeling that if you can straighten out all your problems then you'll be much happier. Secondly go to the Kioti section and ask them how the glow plugs work. If you have glow plugs you really shouldn't be using an aid to help get the engine started.

My Kubota has a light that comes on when the glow plus are on when the key is in the "on" position. Before you try and start the engine you have to wait for the light to go out. Trying to start the engine before it does only makes it harder to start. I have heard of problems with the glow plugs, sometimes they don't come on making it hard to start or they stay on all the time possibly draining your battery.
