Cargo Box integrity

Awhile back (in this thread Misc. RTV900 Questions) I inquired how everyone's cargo box holds up to abuse.

As some of you are aware, I made my own box so I could really give it a punishing without worry.

Well, it's been a few months and many are past the firewood season. Can I re-inquire how the box is holding up?

My initial concerns related to denting of the side panels and does the rearward sides while under load want to bow out if tailgate not connected.

From my experience and much to my dismay firewood tends to bend the box a little. Sidewalls do seem to stay straight and true. I really think after a few years of service these dents will really start showing badly. You may recall when I first got my RTV back in July I had a slip-in bedliner installed which caused an "extreme rattle" and many posts that followed. Well, to correct that annoying problem I had it removed and then had the bed sprayed. As you probably know this doesn't really protect the bed from getting dinged up. So, the moral of my story is to probably do what you did or use the RTV as a tool and not a show toy. Besides, no matter what you do you can't keep'em new forever! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Glad to see you back online. Haven't heard from you in awhile.
Yes, I do recall your rattle issue. Did you ever try the slip-in liner over the spray in? I'd think that would reduce the noise.

It's good to hear that other than the impacts, the box is holding up.

I never got a chance to try the slip-in after I had it sprayed. The dealer just swapped the option and kept the liner at no additional cost to me. It probably would have reduce the rattle somewhat but more then likely not entirely.
