Carhartt insulated bib overalls

I have the Carhart bib and a Schmidt coverall. I prefer the bib with a nice heave hooded sweatshirt. The one piece is a all or nothing and can be a pita to remove. If a bib does not fit snug enough for you, you could either spin the shoulder straps or cross ghem behind your back.i tend to like mine a big loose on my shoulders so they don't feel like they are pulling when I sit or get in and out of a truck. Check Schmidt at TSC today. The same size Carhartt that was a close fit except for the shoulder straps...i triedcthat size Schmidt and I couldn't even zip them up. Sizing completely different.

Think I'm going back to Rural King get the Carhartt and find a way to deal with the straps. I have a Carhartt coat that has worn like iron. Don't feel i can go to wrong with that brand.

I bought a pair of Schmidt this year. I'm mostly arms and legs and the Carhart in same size left crotch half-way to my knees even with straps shortened all the way.

Same thing with Carhartt full snowsuit style insulated coveralls I mail ordered. I ordered the correct size but they were really too long in the arms and legs. We figured maybe they shrunk when washed and dried so wife washed twice in hot water. It shrunk very little and since we washed them we owned them and they wound up getting donated to a charity. Expensive lesson in humility.

I still like and prefer Carhartt but in the future I'm not buying anything unless I try it on. Not sure if Dickies makes anything like that but I have had great results with their clothes and would be willing to try them. I only wear out their pants after a long season with lots of abuse. The pockets are especially durable and I like that because I put a lot of irregular things in them and only rarely get a hole.

To keep this thread from getting moldy.
I consider myself a medium size guy, but when comes to buying some clothes like Carhart, (FIRST TIME BUYER) I'm extra large, why> at 5-5, 160 lb, is it because Carhart is made Mexico, are Mexicans small people or does/is Carhart size chart metric. Two weeks ago I bought some Carhart insulated Bibs, thought we'll I ware 33-34 waist 28-30 leg, so 36-28 should fit just find, wrong, sold them to my son for snowmobiling, I'll buy another pair, 38-28, just got them today, they fit but if they shrink much, I might have to buy 40-28 REALLY, how in Hades is anyone suppose know what size to get, if I got a pair of pants size 40, I'd need block & tackle to hold them up, I will let Carhart know in a few choice words later...........Build a wall...........

How about trying them on before you buy?

I like Carhartt tee shirts, hooded sweatshirts, vests and coats but I need to try on the coats before buying. As for coveralls, I go to TSC and buy the insulated bibs there. Extremely good fit, warm, and sturdy.

I recently bought a Carhartt Duck Santa Fe Jacket in bright orange from Amazon. SWMBO wants me to wear blaze orange in the woods. The weather has been so warm I've only worn it twice. But it seems well worth the $32.
Sizing seemed about right.

Carhartt sizing can be hit or miss. I have to try on everything with them until I find the fit that works in a particular style or line.

Tried on a jacket in Cavenders awhile back and was surprised that it was so tight I could barely get it zipped up. another style carhartt jacket same size fit fine.
