Caroni TM1900 with Smooth-Cut Blades

I have the standard y blades, 56, I believe, that came on the Betst/Hamney.
I run it right at pto speed.

Going slow or fast doesn't seem to matter.

Edit: 28 blade stations.

swampvol ,

Which way does the shaft rotate, forward or reverse. Are you talking cutting grass? If you get into tall thick stuff, it will matter. You can test the other direction by putting the tractor in reverse, and the flail will cut just the opposite when the tractor is going forward, but that is assuming that the big roller is up off the ground, so as not to compress the material. I really don't know which is the preferred way, and most people don't realize which way the shaft is turning. It just turns the way the manufacture set it up to run, except for the units that can be switched from forward cut to reverse cut.

This is a picture of a Hamney with the hammer blades. Looking at the picture it appears it rotates opposite of the tractor tires when moving forward.
