Carport Brands?

I am considering buying a metal carport - about 18'x21'x8'. I live in the mountains of California so it will need to have an adequate snow load. Seems like several brands can provide this. Searching threads sounds like some members had good luck with T-N-T and Carolina (which is not available here). Most brands look very similar.

Any recommendations on those or other brands or ones to avoid?

I bought a T-N-T for a mobile home in 2003, the following year, our daughter bought one next door to us in that mobile home park. We sold our mobile home and bought this house in 2005, daughter sold hers and bought a house in 2008, but those carports are still there and still look just fine after 7 & 8 years. Of course we didn't have to worry about any snow load; just needed shade from the sun and occasionally protection from rain while getting in and out of vehicles.

this is the guy, (thats not the carport we bought we bought a traditional one) He worked with me on the size and had a ton of options. The crew had it up in no time. Very sturdy has made it through 3 winters now and hurricans and floods. Worth giving him a shot.

I bought one for my farm from Eagle Carports in 2007 and have been satisfied so far. However, it looks like that company markets through USA Steel Buildings in California: Eagle Carports - Nationwide installed metal carports, garages, buildings, rv covers, horse barns and more!

I just got a quote from T-N-T which was much higher than I expected based upon website info. A minimum of $2450 for an 18x21x8 with CA tax included and a 60lb snow load.

If it keeps going like this I will look at doing a wood pole carport.

Also looked at a metal building company's extra's pile today and may be able to come up with enough materials to build a much heavier duty one than the online carports. If I can figure out how to do it with my limited skills :laughing: and the price is reasonable, that is.

Bought it from Carports and More in Fair Oaks, CA (near Sacramento) 916-224-9977 Jerry Azevedo.

It's manufactured by American Carports Inc. in their Colusa, CA facility.
In Tehama Co a carport that size needs wet signed engineering drawings that were supplied by American Carports. No problem pulling the building permit.

I handled the concrete footings myself--about 6 yards needed.

That carport has the side-draining roof option and cost about $3K installed.

I've gotten a couple of Panther Creek carports, one from homeless depot and the other from wally-mart. I've never had to deal with snow, but they seem like quality units.

I had this carport (20 x 36 ft with 9 ft sides) built two years ago.

There doesn't seem to be any diagonal bracing. I can't believe that survives a windload, are there thin cables that aren't visible in the photo?
