Carry-all

A shop that builds cars and does other fab work made it. They ordered the tubing and fabbed it in about a day.

For some reason your carry-all looks like a bed to me. Perhaps I'm sleepy.

The "head board" is a safety feature. It's six foot high. That means when carrying lots of stuff, there's less chance of something rolling back toward the operator. For light stuff, it gives the carrier a humongous capacity.

The capacity makes the tractor a useful transport device. I've had 25 hay bales on it at a time. I've used it to carry bagged trash and even mattresses down to the garbage pickup. When the creek's up it saves me a lot of effort moving bagged feed. With chicken wire fastened over the frame, it will also carry huge amounts of grass clippings.

Now that is really a neato setup. I would never have thought of that in a million years. Now I want one. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I got the idea after carrying wood with just the forks. It just made sense to come up with something that gave the forks expanded capacity. The carrier attaches by driving up and running the forks through the pockets. Then lifting and driving off. The platform is 8'x8'. The only drawback is the 8' width is difficult to see around if you fully load it. The 8' length cuts down your clearance when dumping. If I'm going to dump a load, I attach the carrier to the loader guard with a load strap.

We use it to move broken hay bales for poultry bedding. I can load it drive it to where I need it and then leave it for unloading later. Same with trimming trees. I can park the carrier close. Load it. Then pick it up and move the trimmings later. It would be nice to have a couple of them. It's really the same idea as a pallet which can be moved with a load as needed, just bigger.

Darren, that is unbelieveable, nice set up but much larger than what I was looking into. Too big for my 28hp I'm sure. I took Rick's advice and bought the TSC carry-all and made a 5' wide by 3' tall by 2-1/2' deep box for the back of my unit. I have it completed but won't get to try it out until Thursday (another 4 day weekend) I will let you know how it works out. I plan to load the 5' bucket and the carryall and move firewood about 1/2 mile, the bucket alone just doesn't haul enough. Thanks everybody for the help.

Bill, I'm using the "bed frame" carrier on a Kubota L3710 which is 30 pto hp. The tractor doesn't even grunt.

I'd take Darren's carry-all in a heartbeat, but a quick and dirty solution to moving a large volume of lighter material, like pruned branches, grass clippings, empty barrels, etc., is to clamp a full or partial sheet of 3/4"plywood to your pallet forks. A "C" clamp on each fork near the bend will hold the plywood well enough to get everything loaded and moved. This temporary solution has worked so well that my next project will be to build a more elaborate set-up that includes (as one TBN poster has explained) holes that allow the vertical portion of the pallet forks to hold the platform from sliding forward or side-to-side.

Here is a carry-all that I built for my BX2200. The base is the standard TSC model. Back and floor are treated lumber; removable back and sides are white pine. I have carried in excess of 500 pounds in it. I stacked 10 sheets of plaster board on it and hauled it to the back of my house.
