Carrying chains???

I'm not trying to hijack here, but can you post more photos of how you mounted that chainsaw to the tractor? :licking:

I just keep my chains behind the seat, but I like the idea of making a box to bolt onto the front weight holder.

Modified my brushguard on my M9540. First pic is before, the rest are right after I painted, but haven't put the chains in yet. I keep a 3/8" chain approx. 15' long, a 5/16" chain about 8' long, and the reciver hitch in the box. I also, needed more protection for the front of my tractor when using my grapple. I still need to fill in the area b/t my box and the expanded metal.

That is a nice modification. Good idea about putting the receiver hitch there too.

I'm going to have to steal your idea for my next welding project...if I ever finish the projects my wife has lined up for me. :laughing:

Thanks, I figured you never know when having a reciever there would come in handy. Good luck, my wife keeps me with honey-do's also.

FYI...The chain box is made of 3/4"x6" flat bar on both sides, back, and bottom with front piece being 3/4"x8" flat bar. I wanted it to be heavy duty and I had the flat bar left over from another project. In the attached pics you can see the back, sides, and bottom before the front and reciever were welded on.

On the FEL on my Kubota L4240 there is a tube running through and between the two arms. My father cut a slot in a sewer and drain pipe. Plugged both ends with a wood plug (from a hole saw), put an eye bolt in it to help in pulling the pipe out. There is a pin that travels through the S&D pipe located outside the FEL arms to prevent the pipe from sliding out either end.

Remove either pin and pull the pipe from the other end. There is a tray with chain in it. It works very good. I frequently have a need for a short chain. This chain just sits on the floor of the tractor.

It would be nice to find a more convenient way to open up the tube without having to walk to both side of he tractor.

I made a chain box from scrap that sets inside the factory grille guard on my JD 790. Then made a "improved" grille guard the covers the factory one, hooking onto the chain box & one pin through the top pipe of the factory guard. ~~ grnspot

I saw this one. Went home thinking I'd do that too. Not enough room on my Kubota......

I made boxes for my quick hitches. Along with other mods, works good for me.
